I'm trying to install Windows 98 SE on my Toshiba laptop i've gone through fdisk and rebooted to begin setup booting from the CD drive. But once i get to the formatting stage I get this...

Any idea how i can get past this?

Have you tried formatting the drive before beginning setup? When you boot, choose the option to start computer with only CD-ROM support (don't begin setup). Move to the D:\WIN98 directory. Unless you are using an upgrade CD, format.com is in this directory:

FORMAT C: /Q /V:WIN98

Then you can run SETUP.EXE from the D:\WIN98 directory without rebooting.

Was typing a reply but meatball beat me to it

I also copy the Win98 folder to the hard drive rather then run setup off the CD which I highly recommend if you have the disk space to spare
