So here's the deal. I'm using DOSBox to install an old win95 game (I have XP on my machine) and I am having issues with saving the game on my machine. The game's install program is trying to save the files to C:, but it keeps telling me that I do not have enough space on the drive to install.

First off, C: is not my main HD, nor is it where I am running DOSBox from, so i do not think it is trying to save the files to my actual C: drive.
Secondly, if it really was trying to save the files to C:, I have more than enough space there, so it should not be an issue.

Anyone who have any suggestions on how I can solve this problem, your input would be appreciated. I have little to no previous DOS experience, but I learn quickly and can figure most things out when I am pointed in the right direction.

Look in the New FAQ on this forum for

"My mounted harddrive has only 105MB, even though I’ve have plenty more space on the harddrive."

Also, did you mount C:\ as C:\? If you don't know what mounting is read the Readme.txt delivered with DOSBox on the mount command and look in the New FAQ under the Drives related section and read all the faq's.

Also what game/DOSBox version are you talking about?

I would recommend to first look in the New FAQ whenever running into trouble with DOSBox.

Look at the -freesize option while mounting the c: drive. 😎

i was using my f drive for the game. i moved it over to c and tried again and got a little further (i could make the minimum installation but not run the game)

the game I'm trying to play is elder scrolls 2: daggerfall and i'm running DOSBox 0.70.

i've gotten to the point where all i need to do is figure out a way to get dosbox to read from the cd as well as what i installed on my computer, so i'm almost there. thanks for the FAQ suggestion, it has been a big help.

Also, haven't read the thread by DOSFreak completely, I would suggest using the "mount D E:\ -t cdrom -ioctl" command to mount the cdrom.

This feature allows better CD control.
