Hi all,
I have this small issue with an old midi-interface that i found in a drawer recently (i used to have the GUS and later on the Terratec EWS-64xl which where both superb audio-cards).
Anyhow, i was thinking that i could somehow use the midi-capabilities of it, by connecting it to one of my laptops, a Toshiba 480CDT (i don't own the dock for this so i don't have a native gameport). So what i wanted to try was to essentially borrow the usb->gameport adapter from my old Logitech Wingman flight stick and connect the GUS midi breakout to it.
The laptop has the OPL3 drivers installed for audio (including a "OPL3-SA MPU MIDI IN/OUT" showing up in for example Cakewalk 3.01 express. But as the laptop doesnt really have a gameport...
Is it even possible to connect the GUS midi box to USB and get it to work? I guess using the generic Microsoft mpu401 drivers will not work (i tried, they didn't) as the hardware lacks the physical port for it.
Or is this usb/gameport dongle basically 'only' for connecting game-controllers to it?
Have you managed something similar?
