Hi,

Recently I dropped a panasonic 1,44mb floppy drive on the floor. It was from a nice micron millenia case...
Of course a corner of the pcb broke off and of course I managed somehow to loose it!
Today I was inspecting the damage and found out that only pin 1 and pin 2 are involved. 1 should be ground, so no big deal, guess it is going to work anyway. But pin 2 should be density select. Again, not sure if this is still used in "modern" floppy drives. But could solder a bypass wire with no problems.
Any advice? Should i resolder everything else back together (both motors are soldered on pcb which makes it quite a PITA) and leave it as it is? Or should repair pin2 (and at that point also pin1 to gnd)?

Well, I tried today... Connected everything together, soldered the pads to the ribbon cables from the motors... And... It doesn't work... At least properly! The floppy spins, seeks, but the motor that moves the heads is complaining, it doesnt move, it just vibrates as hell! It's not dead, the bios recognizes the drive as a 1,44mb floppy and also windows 98se sees it. Now I have to see what is the problem with the motor.
