Looking to get a new PSU for a Intel BX build I am working on. Thinking it will be with a P3B-F 1.04 Mobo with a P3-500 (although tempted to try the P3-1000 but that would be overkill I think). I found this one on Newegg, https://www.newegg.com/corsair-rmx-series-rm5 … N82E16817139269 would this work well? Only issue I think will be the 24 pin mobo connector, is there a good 24 to 20 pin adapter? not sure if it will sit handing off the side or now... Or if anyone has any other PSU recommendation please let me know!

Wish I kept all my machines from back in the day.. would have made life much simpler 🙁

ya there are adapters. IDK i personally think just about any bronze rated power supply from a good manufacturer like, seasonic or evga etc will be good enough for a p3, your barely drawing any power compared to what they are rated for. other thing is gold rating etc doesn't matter becasue psus are rated at an effciency when they are drawing a certain amount of power. So since your not going to ever draw like 1000 wats for example it's not going to run at whatever effeincy that would be at.

I believe you want one that has more power on the 3.3 and 5v rails. I typically use evga as their 24pin atx connector will allow the last 4 pins to "break off" for 20 pin, plus a lot of their units have good 3.3 and 5v specs.

Do a search though as there are a few great threads about this.

Thanks all, EVGA seems like the best option I can see due to the split 24 pin plug. Also like the modular design so I can leave off cables like pcie that I don’t need. Hopefully can find a good cyber Monday deal today 😀

Just found this deal! Only $75! Has two peripheral plugs for molex and floppy power. And the detachable 24 pin plug. Then can leave off everything else as it’s all modular. Also 20amps on the 5V and 24 on the 3.3V so should be good there too.
