Hi,

I have a sound blaster 16 CT2230 with an issue that the digitized sound desappear after few seconds.
The music work always but the digitized sound desappear.
When I launch "diagnose" I have an error message with the DMA.

Help!!!
Thx

Update
Finally I have the same issue on an other system. Digitized sound work a few second and disappear.
It is not the motherboard but the Sound Card. Maybe an hardware problem ? but witch component is defect ? A capacitor ?
Anyone have a suggestion or can help me to resolve this hardware issue.
Thx

Update 2

New test
I have tested the sound card before playing a game with "sb16test". Result all is fine
I play a game and after few second the digitized sound disappear 😒
I retest the sound card with "sb16test" and now I have a error message with the IRQ and the DMA ...
I restart the computer and relaunch "sb16test" => All is fine again.
????????????????

Possible DMA conflict.
What other devices (interface cards) do you have in your system?
Depending on your system, you might have that DMA channel reserved in your system BIOS.

I have only a VGA card and a controller card.
The motherboard is a ECS FX-3000 (FE-386) with a 386DX. On this motherboard the options in the bios is very limited.

I just tested "diagnose" and sometimes the High DMA is on channel 5 and sometimes is on "use low DMA"

Set the card to use the low DMA channel.

As I recall, some sound card/motherboard configurations don't always work well with the high DMA channel option.

No change with lower DMA. I have no sound. But when I test with diagnose I have the digitized sound...

I have tested with a sound blaster CT 1770 and I have no issue with this sound card.

Somes Sound Blaster version doesn't work with somes old motherboard? Somes 386 motherboard work only with older sound card ?

It's possible but, the CT2230 shouldn't cause these problems. Best would be to test in another system.
