Thrustmaster Mark II FCS and an intel PCI ethernet card 😀

Forgot how much fun Descent and TIE Fighter are with a real joystick vs keyboard and mouse

Now you just need to add a throttle and rudder pedals for the perfect setup for flight and space sims!

I'll put them on my list for Santa 😁

I hope you've behaved then! BTW - you can also get "twist" joysticks for rudder control, but having pedals makes a big difference imo. You can also use them for driving too. However, you might want to check if your games support rudder controls first. While a lot of DOS games support them, some games like the original Red Baron don't.

If you were a really good boy or girl, Santa could get you a TrackIR. This is a little device that you can attach to your hat that uses head tracking to map your head movement to the game. After rudder pedals, I would argue that TrackIR is the next best device you can pickup for flight and space simming. Rather than having to use keys or a joystick POV hat, you just need to move your head a bit to look around in game. Like most hobbies, there's always more stuff to buy when flight simming! Here's a list of TrackIR support games (you can also map mouse movement to it, but that isn't as good):

As someone with a 3D Pro with a twist handle, I would say rudder pedals are a significantly better way to go for most sims. Twisting the handle without also moving one of the other axes is tricky. It's also tricky to keep it in a particular position. Not to mention how awkward it can be to try to fly normally when your wrist is cocked one side or the other. However, it also means one less device to plug into the computer, and doesn't require floor space.

Also, there are many other games you can use flight sim controls for. Back in the later half of the 90s, I would just keyboard and joystick for a lot of action games rather than keyboard and mouse. It was like having an eight button mouse back then. Jedi Knight in particular, being able to map specific Force powers to the joystick hat. And while it's a different kind of piloting, MechWarrior games also are awesome with advanced HOTAS setups.

A huuuge stack of sold out software CDs. Threw away the cases, kept the inserts, and stored CDs into cd wallet. Kept cases with cd keys in them, couldn't be assed noting down cd keys somewhere. Also gutted large stack of some old demo cd cases.
Using CDs are now bearable with cdslow 5.2 at 16x setting

It seems the board has a Tseng ET1000-A adapter - it makes for an interesting display piece, as I allready have an ET2000 EGA card as well as the common ET3000 and ET4000AX VGA cards. Maybe I'll build a small display case and put these in it.

I have this card NOS with manual. In case you need it I can take scans/pics...

Thank you. If you have the time, and it's not to much of a bother, I would appreciate some pics of the original manual.

Found it by accident on local auction service. Wrong category, wrong card name. Nobody looked at it. Nobody wanted it.

It's in perfect condition, VGA part already tested and it's fine, Audio part detected by NSSI and some games but I have to make a breakout cable (@keropi already provided me with necessary diagrams).

Hah. mind giving me the values of the big cap by the ISA finger connector, I have two of these here which happen to have had that cap ripped off.

470uF 16V (Nichicon brand on my card). Exactly the same as other two biggies on the upper edge of the card.

Can I get rid of my proprietary Compaqs, or in other words, will these fire up without issues?

Second question will be, is it a TC430HX and does it support MMX?

Yes to both. Can do MMX due to regulator. The 3.3V comes from ATX plug.

This what my AN430TX did.

Actually, I looked at it, and kinda wanted it...
but decided it's not worth the price, also got scared off by the need to make that cable - have you found a plug for that 3-row D-connector?

Price was adequate (even if the rest of the stuff sold by this guy is very overpriced), although I hesitated for a few days before buying - I'm trying to limit my vintage stuff spending after all. It's pretty rare card - maybe not AdLib Gold kind of rare, but still more rare than pretty much every GUS variant. DB26 plugs are easely available on Allegro and the connections were already reverse-engineered by @keropi (beside the midi which requires external electronics, doesn't matter though because OPL2 is all what I want/need for this era DOS games, and it also like my ATI Stereo F/X provides sockets for C/MS chips). I have plans for an early 386 powerhouse (based on ASUS Cache 386/33 board) and this combo card will be perfect for it.

Today I ordered a Dallas clock chip replacement for use on a socket 7 board I have with a dead rtc battery.

Hopefully it arrives in the next week or two.
