Hello !
This might be a message for the developers of DosBox.

I'm using DosBox 0.74-3 under Windows 10 Pro (without a real 3,5" floppy drive A:\ ) and it works pretty good.
On the other hand I'm using a PC with Windows XP including a real 3,5" floppy drive A:\

The last few days I tried to install Borland Pascal 7.01 (3,5" Floppy Disk Version) and the trouble began.

In REAL DOS, Borland Pascal consists of 11 disks and you have to change them each on drive A:

I want to save each diskette to an image file or something else, because I don't want these floppies anymore.

Then I heard about "Turbo Image 1.01a" a TSR programm to handle many IMAGE-FILES .

Version 1.01a

Pierre J. le Riche 1996

Introduction:
=============

Turbo Image is a resident utility that uses extended memory to create a
"fake" floppy drive. Basically this means you can make disk images of your
favourite programs' installation disks (with programs like Disk Copy Fast,
Wimage, DiskDupe, VGACopy, etc.) and use these images to install the programs
from. The increase in speed is absolutely amazing, and as an added bonus
TI is very simple to use. You can press Ctrl-Alt-T to pop it up at any time
and load or save the disk image. Unlike other disk image programs TI saves
a CRC check at the end of each image for added security, yet remains
compatible.

Disk image file suported formats:
=================================

TurboImage 1.01a was sucessfuly tested with this programs:

VGACopy 5.0a - by Thomas Monkemeiers
MSXDump - by CompuJunks
Replicator 1.27 - by Stevenson Technical Services, Inc. (not ZIP compressed)
DiskDupe 3.3/7.0- by Micro Systems Design, Inc.
UltraCopy 1.46 - by Pierre Van Wyngaard
DiskCopyFast 5.3- by Chang Ping Lee
DiskCopy - by Marat Fayzullin
WImage vr. ?.?? - by ??????

NOTE: This list isn't complete. Any raw disk image can be read by TurboImage,
even Unix image disk files created by the 'cp' command, and I don't
know all the diskcopy programs. If you know a format that works with
TurboImage and isn't on the list, please report me by e-mail
(adrcunha@dcc.unicamp.br or adrcunha@fee.unicamp.br).

Licence:
========
Turbo Image is freeware, i.e. you can use it as often as you like and you
don't have to pay me a cent (unless you really want to). The source code is
also included, so you can make changes to it to suit your own needs. I've
also included the source for a small BBS intro which you may want to have a
look at (it's not really very original).
There are only a few restrictions:
1) If you make significant changes to TI, or fix a couple of bugs, please
send me a copy so it can be shared with everyone else.
2) Before you spread a modified version, you should run it by me first.
3) TI may never be sold for profit. I have no objection to it being
included on shareware CD-ROMs, etc.
Apart from the above, I would really appreciate any feedback (positive or
negative). I will try my best to answer all queries. My EMAIL address is:
pleriche@firga.sun.ac.za

Usage:
======

Type "TI" to load TurboImage. If all goes well, and you have the required
2MB extended memory available, you will see a message prompting you to
press Ctrl-Alt-T to pop up the control panel. TC is now resident, and you
can now press Ctrl-Alt-T at any time to access the control panel (even while
other programs are running). If you press Ctrl-Alt-T you should get the
display below:

This software is awesome and I love it, (it works in REAL DOS ) but it doesn't serve the drive A:\ right (floppy image loaded by TURBO IMAGE 1.01a) when I hit F1 to activate it.
Under Windows XP with a real 3,5" floppy drive and DosBox 0-74-3, only the real floppy drive A:\ is aivailable , but not the IMAGEFILES, served by TURBO IMAGE.

What can I do ?
or
Who can solve/fix or explain this problem?

Use an SVN build of DOSBox, it can mount multiple floppy images (raw format) directly, no need for any other software.

Example command: imgmount a d1.img d2.img d3.img d4.img -t floppy

Pressing Ctrl-F4 switches images. Note that, as in the example, using short filenames for the images is a good idea because you will be mounting a lot of them.

You can get an SVN build here.

OK. Question: What is the meaning of SVN? SVN ist the short form of subversion ? Am I right? Sorry, I'm a bloody newbie 😉

Isn't the holy spitit of DosBos that (in the future) maybe all DOS programms should work like in REAL DOS ?

NOTE:
======

While we are hoping that one day DOSBox will run all programs ever made for the PC, we are not there yet.

At present, DOSBox running on a high-end machine will roughly be the equivalent of a Pentium I PC. DOSBox can be configured to run a wide range of DOS games, from CGA/Tandy/PCjr classics up to games from the Quake era.

Than I have a wish (now it's christmas time 😉:"Please, let the programmers know all the facts about this problem !"

I have found the zip-file with the soucre code of TURBO IMAGE 1.01a (freeware from Pierre J. le Riche 1996)

SVN does indeed refer to subversion, which is the source code control system used by SourceForge.net, the repository of official DOSBox source code. However, SVN is typically used here on the forum to refer to the latest revision of the source code under development.

DOSBox IS NOT SUITED TO RUN YOUR NON-GAMING DOS APPLICATION

DOSBox primarily targets DOS games. If an application happens to work, that's great, but they sometimes do things using DOS internals and details that are not implemented to keep the code lean and fast for games, and so fixing them is often a low priority.

For your use case, namely mounting multiple floppy images, there is no need for the software if you use an SVN build, as I mentioned previously. You might try SVN with the software, anyway, as there have been many improvements since 0.74-3, and any issue might have been fixed -- no guarantees, though.
