Are you having any problems with GliDOS?
Err ... no: not really. But I still would like to know what it is that these things actually do.
For safety: I have unchecked all options, but if there are certain cool things that I get when one of these options IS in fact checked, I would very much like to know .......... you know? 😀
thx!

You should simply leave the Extras (Advanced) options at their default values.
Just guessing (don't use Glidos):
* Cache small textures: Instead of using, and then throwing away texture data (picture information), the smaller textures are kept in memory so they are read for reuse if/when needed. Takes up more memory, but is a lot faster than having to read them from disk every time.
* Disable Logical Frame buffer reads: I have no idea!
* Delay Logical Frame buffer writes: Probably something about waiting a little time, allowing the game to draw/change more of the graphics before writing the picture information to the the graphics card (which takes time). By delaying the writes, the image on the screen may not be 100% correct, but overall the animation should be smoother.
