As far as I know, official releases of DOSBox needs S3 864 drivers to make Windows 3.x work.

Will S3 drivers works in other programs (Word 5, Wordperfect 6, AutoCAD) that doesn't have VESA drivers?

I know some unofficial builds can emulate ET4000 and Paradise drivers, but is any other SVGA chipset than S3 emulated inside DOSBox?

I have traveled across the universe and through the years to find Her.
Sometimes going all the way is just a start...

I'm selling some stuff!

Well most stuff actually works with vesa, for the rest partial s3 emulation
is present (nothing else) which should be enough for most of the rest.
(think even autocad had a vesa driver)

"Michael Jordan in Flight" does not support VESA. None of the SVGA-Cards you can choose in that game work together with dosbox. Therefore, only standard vga for that game so far ... .

😠

There are several games, vasyl knows most (if not all 😉 ).

It's not even a dosbox-only-problem: I could never get "Michael Jordan in Flight" to work with SVGA-Graphics even on my real 80486.

So, if dosbox would support svga in this game (and the "several other games" vasyl knows of) it would be even more compatible than a real 80486 with real DOS (5.0)!

Now that's kind of a goal to achieve, isn't it? 😉 😉

Maybe the detection code is borked for this game. Any way try some build
that has vasyl's svga patch incorporated (like ykhwongs's or gulikoza's)
and try the different chipset emulations. Maybe it works, maybe not.

Even if the S3 emulation was complete I wouldn't expect all SVGA programs to work properly under DOSBox. Simply put, until UNIVBE was created (and even after) some programs were a pain in the a** when it came to set up SVGA modes. Right now I can think of "Airpower". I never managed to play in SVGA in my old PC after I ditched my Trident for a Cirrus Logic.
