Hi, I have a few computers. Some are up and running a couple are waiting to be fixed up when I have the time.

I have a Pentium 1 , 233 MMX
Pentium 2 350 MMX
Athlon k6 266
Pentium 3 800

I also have 2 , 12 MB voodoo 2 cards (waiting on an sli cable. )
2 voodoo 3 2000 cards. One is a version 2 is that matters.

Right now I have one voodoo 3 in the pentium 2 and the other in the K6.
I have some other cards that arent voodoo but I have to dig them out of moms basement to see what I have. For now which system would best suit which card?

So the V3's are a good choice for any build but you may be able to improve D3D performance depending on what other cards you have in which case you would pair that up with the V2 SLI setup

Exactly which PC will comedown somewhat to what other cards you do have

Thanks for the replies so far. Slowly getting into this retro hardware (though I was a kid playing with these machines back in the day)
So I finished setting up my dual CPU pentium 3 and i put a radeon 9250 128 meg AGP card into it and it runs really nicely. I did some 3D mark on it and i cant recall the score but it was very high. I have pics ill have to search the phone for. Ill have to add them later. Ill have to go through the bag of gpus and see what I have.

Depends on which resolutions you want to be able to play / or use..

Would recommend:

320 x .... = 486 system (mostly good vlb card)
640x480 = from pentium 90 to 120 Mhz (good 2D PCI card with a voodoo 1 expension)
800x600 from pentium 133 Mhz to beyond ( Any 3d card with a single voodoo 2 expension) (low speed, maybe viper v330 and high speed till 233 Mhz a viper v550.)
1024x786 (pentium II machine.. If started from 350Mhz, would get a Diamond Viper V770.

~ At least it can do black and white~

Well I dont have any of the above cards. So those are out.

As I said, I have a radeon 9250 in my pentium 3. I have a voodoo 3 in my pentium 2 which I used to have in my P1.
I dont think I have room in the P1 to do dual voodoo 2 set up.

I might have to put a Voodoo 3 in the P1. and put another in the P2, then use the two voodoo 2s in another machine. Maybe one of my P3s.
Right now im working on getting the P1 running again. I put a 200 MMX cpu in it which is the fastest that hteboard can take. I cahnged out the two 16 meg dimms for a 128 meg pc133 stick (again the most the board can take.)

and instead of the SB live i used to put in , maybe i need a more DOS compatible isa sound blaster.

I would advise against putting the Voodoo3 card on the Pentium 233MMX computer for compatibility reasons with earlier Glide games. At least put one Voodoo2 card on it and the other one on the PII-350, SLI isn't worth it.

What compatibility issues I wonder. I have had the voodoo 3 in the P1 for ages and didnt notice any problems. I want to do voodoo 2 sli for fun as ive never done it before.
I think I will just keep messing around until I am happy with the results. Though in the end i may just end up putting a voodoo 2 in the p1 and the p2 and use the voodoo 3 in the p3. Either way, I have 4 cards to mess with and see what I like.

Windows games that use both GLIDE.DLL and SST1INIT.DLL, it is nearly impossible to run them successfully with the Voodoo3. Same for DOS games with the Glide API integrated into the executable, see here: Voodoo 2 DOS Glide compatibility matrix. On page 2, there is a list for the Voodoo3.

For the incompatible DOS games mentioned on that thread, I did a mod for the Voodoo2 that allows it to run them.
