My problem is that when ever i try to open dosbox is instantly just closes
with a windows error report

this problem only started last week and i hadnt changed anything what so ever about my pc for the past 2 months and norton and avg both say there are no viruses

my computer specs are:
processor : Intel pentium D 930 3.0Ghz
ram : 1024 mb ddr2
sound : onboard realtek hdaudio
gfx card : Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 320mb
Hdd : 1.25Tb hard drive space across 4 hdd's all sata-II
OS : Windows Xp Professional Sp2

ive tried almost everything i can think of to get this to work ive tried :
restarting my pc
reinstalling dosbox
downloading dosbox again
using an older version of dosbox
Closing all open apps
using only one screen instead of 2
using compatibility mode

Hmmm.... Compatibility mode shouldn't do anything to DOSBox. Tried disabling your anti-virus?

What do that error report say?

What if you start a CMD-window and start DOSBox from the CMD-prompt?

Man That Was Really Quick reply 😀

disabling anti-virus didnt do anything it still closes
and running from a CMD window didnt do anything also
i forgot to mention that the status window opens up with

CONFIG:Loading settings from config file dosbox.conf
MIDI:Opened device:win32

Then It Crashes

well reinstalling the gfx driver kinda fixed it but i think i need to reinstall windows because i am getting display distortion now

and its happening on everything even windows desktop
so hopefully reinstalling windows fixes it
because i dont want to be forced into buying another new gfx card
