I've got 2 multia's, a VX40 and a VX42. On both of them the floppy drive does not work, the light will flash but it will not read in NT and under SRM it thinks there is no floppy inserted. I've swapped the drive for a Sony MPF720-2 and the same error occurs. I've tried replacing the battery in them with a fully charged one and that also does not fix it. Any ideas?

Sorry know near nothing about Alpha based computers. Are you sure the floppy controller is working proper ?

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

I was thinking it could be the controller, but I don't know how to test it. The floppy drive comes up as dva0 in SRM when connected and dva0 does not show up in SRM when I remove the floppy controller. You can also hear the disk spinning and the light flashing.
