Hi all,

I have an Acer V50LA socket 7 motherboard that currently has a 180mhz Pentium Overdrive CPU in it. It seems to be running fine, but I also have a P233 MMX CPU that I was thinking of swapping in.

The motherboard manual only lists jumper settings for 66/166 CPUs.
There are also settings for p55c core/bus clocks for 3/1 or 2/1.

The available voltage settings are for 3.3825V VR, or 3.525V VRE CPUs.

Will the bus/core settings limitations make the faster CPU pointless?
If I use the VRE setting with the P233 MMX, will this end up toasting the chip?

Thank you for the help!

That board does not appear to support the split voltages of the MMX so you will end up potentially damaging it. Seems the best it can handle would be a 200mhz non MMX (3x66mhz)

Thank you for the tips! I will just keep the Pentium Overdrive in there then and use the P233 MMX for another project.
