Alright - with as customized as this forum is, it's obvious that somebody here knows what they're doing, layout-wise. That being said, I've got some issues with the layout that make the forum experience a little tedious.

  1. Moving between pages in a thread can only be done from the bottom of the page, which means much scrolling. Could a page navigation tool be added to the top of the page as well?
  2. Getting back to the forum or forum index cannot be done from the bottom of a page, only from the top. So if I were to read a thread all the way to the end, I'd have to scroll all the way back up. (Yes, I am aware of the Back button, but that screws with the cookies that show me whether a topic has been read or not.)
  3. Why doesn't the SubSilver skin work anymore? I can select it but it just defaults back to the vogons skin. It seems pointless to give the user a choice when there is no choice to be made.

Please don't take these as complaints - I'm just making observations that could potentially make the forum experience just that much more convenient for everyone.

I agree and would like to add another one:

The icons for "Reply with quote" and "Edit/delete this post" in the top right of each post are really small and kinda hard to hit.

[Edit:] Here comes another one: When a thread has grown to multiple pages, it is not possible to jump to a specific page (or just to the last page) from the thread overview.

I think most of these issues could easily be solved in PHPBB.

Yeah, considering that these issues are "fixed" from the start in most phpBB installations in the SubSilver theme.

Clicking the icon to the left of a thread title will take you directly to the first unread message in the thread. In general, however, I do think that it can be nice to have navigation both at the top and bottom of the screen.

I think it'll be better if page numbers is added below the thread title displayed on a thread index page (sub forum page like "Milliways". etc). That way, we can go directly to a particular page number without having to go to the first page of the thread.

Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....
