Does anyone have the AMD RV280 [Radeon 9200] driver for Windows NT 4.00 SP6a please?

I have it quad boot system and the drivers from the AMD site work on W2K + WXP + 2003, but thus far have not found NT4 drivers.

Google found sites that claimed to have them, but they are actually either W2K or W9x drivers!

I don't think NT4.0 specific drivers exist for the GPU. I have the driver CD for my 9200SE from back then and it also only has drivers for 2k and XP as well as 9x. NT4.0 was out of support for years by the time the RV280 came to the market, so either 2k drivers work for it or there are no working drivers for that OS.

No mainstream NT 4.00 support ended on 31-Dec-2002 and the Radeon 9200 was released on 03-May-2003 so 4 months.

Windows 2000 and later drivers are PnP so there is no way they will work on NT4.

I see, even then, third parties dropped support for old versions of Windows' almost instantly after the new version released. Windows 98 was officially supported up until about mid-2006 I think but finding drivers for hardware released after 2004 is difficult if at all possible.

NT4 was heavily used by businesses due it's stability and better interface compared to previous versions and support ended in Dec 2004, although businesses could pay for support past that date.
Windows 2000 was the new and unproven and SP2 wasn't released until mid 2001 although I seem to remember SP3 being a thing to wait for.
https://www.computerworld.com/article/2590669 … t-one-year.html
Keep in mind that XP wasn't deemed stable and suitable for business use until at least when SP2 was released.

I don't know about the 9200 but I do know the 9600 and 9700 does have NT4 drivers that work so if you can't find one specifically for 9200 or "9000 series" you can likely modify the below.
I haven't used the 9700 in a long time on NT4 but I use the 9600 frequently in my HP n600c.

ATI NT4 drivers can easily be identified by the "NT4_INF" folder name in the "driver" folder.

"ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600 Series" = ati2mtag_0x00004E50
DriverVer=01/29/2004, 4.00.03.4500

Looking through some older drivers

DriverVer=08/15/2002, 4.3.4034

[ATI.Mfg]
"Radeon FSC" = ati2mtag_0x00005159
"Radeon FSC " = ati2mtag_0x00005159

"Radeon 8500 / 8500LE" = ati2mtag_0x0000514C
"RADEON 9000 Series -Primary" = ati2mtag_0x00004966
"RADEON 9000 Series -Secondary" = ati2mtag_0x0000496E
"RADEON 9500" = ati2mtag_0x00004144
"RADEON 9500 SECONDARY" = ati2mtag_0x00004164

"Radeon 9700 " = ati2mtag_0x00004E64
"Radeon FSC " = ati2mtag_0x00005159

There is also this driver but I've never tested it since I've never had those cards and I never tried to see if I could get it working with 9600 or 9700:
DriverVer=06/07/2005, 4.00.03.4511

I don't know about the 9200 but I do know the 9600 and 9700 does have NT4 drivers

Thank you for the into, but 9200 is Generation R200 and 9500 is Generation R300. Given the different generation it will likely need more than some changes to the .INF file.

I have other AGP systems with NVidia 7800 GS + FX 5200 so don't wish to make this an NVidia system

I tried nt4-radeon-4-3-4040 and so far it looks good.

On nt 4.0, I got the radeon x300 and 9600 xt working with the dell OEM drivers provided above.

Unfortunatly these don't provide opengl support and the required ICD dll is not available with this driver package release which is a shame. To add salt to the wound, the catalyst control panel has the opengl configuration tab but of course they don't do anything. At least 2d acceleration and directdraw is working.
