Hello everyone!
I love old computers. And I love to compare old computers.

Edit: The purpose of this thread is to share, compare and expand my wintune97 database. So please export your scores to a wtx file and upload the file in the thread.

Since the late nineties I have used this program to benchmark my computers.
The program does a benchmark run. Then you can compare your system with other systems from its database.
Then you can save your system and add it to your database. Its really sweet. 😀

The program has its flaws. Its not perfect. But the database makes the program useful and fun.
I think it would be awesome if the people here could download the program and upload your exported score in this thread.

You can find the program here
Download link:
https://web.archive.org/web/20060211012800/ht … intn975_616.zip

I have attached my database in this post.
The database file is in the .wtx format. Delete the ".txt" and the file will work
Just download it and import the file with wintune97.

I like running Wintune 2.0 for Windows 3.x. If I run Wintune97 on an pre-P90 system, it makes me feel bad because I'm being compared to P200s and Pentium Pros. I want to see how my 486 benches against other 486s.

Well. The database is full of 486 systems. There is nothing that stops you from choosing only 486 systems to compare

There's over 200 systems to choose from

Specs:
GA-486VM, 40MHz FSB, 256K L2 and TAG at 20ns
32MB in 8x4MB 70ns 30-pin SIMMs, apparently they are FPM
Intel 486DX2-66 at 80MHz (got a DX4 OverDrive on the way, hopefully it's stable at 120)
Trident TGUI9440AGi 2MB VLB video card, 800x600 256colors at 75hz
Creative Vibra16S CT2800
UMC-based ISA super IO card (Standard Bus Mastering IDE Controller driver loaded), 16GB SD card in SD to IDE adapter
AVA-1502E ISA SCSI card (no boot ROM, only external 25-pin port)
3Com EtherLink III ISA 3C-509B, XTIDE Universal 386 BIOS in ROM socket
Windows 95C (modified install media to exclude IE3 and 4, Plus! and IE5.5SP2 installed)

I find it pretty interesting that it beats a DX4-100 machine by so much in the dhrystone test. A 20MIPS lead over a CPU clocked 20MHz faster... wonder which vendor it actually came from, I doubt a real Intel chip would be so badly outran by something so much slower. It's only beat by 1MFLOP by the same CPU in the whetstone test. Video performance seems about average for 486-class machines... maybe a little better than average, but it's beat by the DX4-100 machine just below it. I bet that Cyrix 5x86 machine runs PCI video to have a 26MPixel/s video speed.

Shoushi: Dimension 9200, QX6700, 8GB D2-800CL5, K2200, SB0730, 1TB SSD, XP/7
Kara: K7S5A Pro, NX1750, 512MB DDR-286CL2, Ti4200, AU8830, 64GB SD2IDE, 98SE (Kex)
Cragstone: Alaris Cougar, 486BL2-66, 16MB, GD5428, CT2800, 16GB SD2IDE, 95CNOIE

Depending on memory timings chipset and board, and board manufacturer the performance on the same 486 cpu could variate a lot.
Could you upload a exported wtx file in the thread?

It could be that this Dx4 100 lacks l2 cache memory, and there fore lacks performance.
I have a Olivetti PCS 42P Amd 5x86 160 Trio32 VLB 16mb ram. It doesnt get any better than 90 MIPS. Even with a 160mhz cpu. This computer has l2 cache. But the OPTI chipset sucks donkeys arse

During the time since my last post I have benchmarked tons of computers and expanded the database a quite bit.

I have attached the latest database file for wintune97 in this post

It would be awesome if people would download the program and upload their scores here as WTX files.

The original link seems to be missing 4 dll files needed for the program to run. I think it is OK to redistribute? 7Z archive is smaller than Zip anyway.

BTW, my UNRAR utility could not extract your database and I don't know where to download a newer version of it 🙁

On newer systems the results get screwy, RAM tests drop to 0KB/sec... 🤣
486DX4-100 = 114 dhrystones, 24 whetstones
1.2GHz Pentium M = 3194 dhrystones, 730 whetstones
2.4GHz Athlon 64 X2 = 9523 dhrystones, 3333 whetstones
4.0GHz AMD Steamroller = 27586 dhrystones, 6667 whetstones

Hi!
Thanks for the submitted results! 😀

Ok. Here is a reupload of the latest database.
It it NOT rared.

Just delete the ".rar" in the end. Then you will have the database.

Anyone here who has their own machines and could be willing to upload some scores in the form of exported WTX files generated by Wintune97?

Edit:
Attached the latest database
A lot off systems has been added. A friend of mine was kind to benchmark his Rise MP6 cpu as well 😀
