A sample of 2 is not good enough to judge. You need trading volume over an extended period of time. There is just not enough V5-6k to do that. It goes more by the rules of art pieces than by the rules of mass manufactured goods. As someone said before, highly volatile. This was sold for $15k, maybe a month from now it'd be sold for 50k and 6 months from now 10k.

Yah, you'd get criticized whatever though, either for not using it, "only sitting on a shelf" or for using it and "wearing out a rare part" like that old fable about the man and his son taking a donkey to market, ride it, lead it, both get on, etc etc according to opinions of other travellers.

Someone commented on an ancient V56k post that the last one went for $10K before so yeah, not the best investment, it didn't even break even.

The HiNT bridges on these things tended to die real quickly depending on the mainboard, most v5 6000 died this way. When I had 2 of these in the early 2000 for testing (hardware 3700A) we ran them on GA-7VRX boards built around a VIA KT333 chipset which were known to work well, drivers were Amigamerlin. We got the cards for around 800-1000€ back then, the 15k price is just stupid.

I’m more interested in the « new » builds like GamersNexus recently presented.
