Asus P/I-P55T2P4 rev 3.0, P233 MMX + cooler, 2x32 MB EDO RAM, 512 KB cache module and an S3 Trio64 DX PCI.

Everything works just great except the S3, so I'm pretty happy 😀

That is a great find, COAST module and everything! Too bad those boards didn't use a CR2032 tho.

If BIOS upgrades support later CPUs (and even without on some boards), the jumpers can be ignored by those later CPUs or setting 1.0x or 2.0x, or whatever, can become 6.0x, for example. The Asus P2L97, for example, also goes up to 5.0x on the multiplier jumpers, but it can support all Mendocino Celerons up to 533MHz. Even a Katmai Pentium up to 550MHz (albeit, downclocked) works (the 600MHz wouldn't work, but it's probably a voltage thing).

Take a look at BIOS updates for your board and/or try it out (for science), anyway. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Hmm, I don't have much kicking around to try out, but I tried a 500MHz Katmai and it runs that fine at 333MHz regardless of jumpers. Also tried 750MHz and 1000MHz Coppermines on a slocket and it runs both of those at 500MHz, heh.

Results: not sure. Might be worth trying to source a better Mendocino but I think that's it.

Those Mendocino Celerons have a fixed multiplier. Multiplier jumpers are irrelevant with them.😎👍

Recently I didn't buy all that many hardware, but today I got this.

The fastest Mendocino. Probably the furthest thing from special, but I always wanted one. I'm also planning a budget build around it.

Not really retro but a nice surprise. I bought an Asrock 990fx Extreme 6 that came with a mystery CPU. The images were fuzzy and all I could make out was an FX stamped on the lid. The description read, "... with Phenom II Black Edition Hexacore CPU." And also something like, "Be ready for any task with this 8-core CPU." Hmm. I figured it was probably an FX-6300 or something similar and since the price was good for the motherboard alone I took the plunge. A few weeks later, I opened the box and to my surprise it was an Fx-9590. Very nice!

Fortunately though, this 5150 is absolutely loaded, which makes up for the bad shipping.

It’s an early model (16-64K mb) with an 8088, 8087, original IBM EGA, AST RAMPage and SixPakPlus, Hayes modem, and some generic MFM controller.

ST-251 hard drive almost certainly dead from shipping, but we’ll see.

Power supply upgraded to 135 watt unit.

Fascinating. Did not know Jameco ever made this type of stuff. Apparently it only supports 360K floppy drives. Wonder how they got that 3.5 inch drive working.

"AMI BIOS ROM Included" is a bullet point feature. Did companies ever sell fully assembled IBM PC/XT clones without a BIOS?

I don't thinks so , you don't have a rom chip in the TX clone?! they are not so hard to come-by. BTW I am not sure that damage is from shipping , may have been already damaged previously.

L.E. My latest buy was a Lenovo Ideapad S145 , AMD- A6 chip , metal case(so it seems) don't know much as I have no power-adapter yet. (cost of laptop was about 60 euros) , if you want pic's I can post but its 2020 laptop so I got it because it was new enough to be interesting. *may still have warranty (not sure could not locate SN).
