Hi all --

So, I decided to use a mouse on my Pentium-100 DOS machine. I didn't originally see this as a big decision. However, I'd like to use an optical mouse.

And for some reason right now, maybe because I'm using off-brand mice, I can't get DOS to recognize any mouse at all through my PS/2 port.

So, question 1, is it likely that an off-brand mouse wouldn't be recognized by Microsoft's Mouse driver (MOUSE.COM)? And question 2, will a modern optical mouse work with an old motherboard and O/S like mine? Have PS/2 port standards changed since 1997?

Thanks in advance...

Assuming this is an AT mainboard: maybe your PS/2-Connector isn't connected as it should?

Hal, checked that.

Dosfreak, I found cute mouse but am at a loss for how to actually install it -- doesn't it need to be compiled or something?
