Hi.
I'm bust reviving and old dx4 and it was all going well. I had a cd drive installed, windows 3.11 and dos 6.22 seem to work fine. Now I come to start installing stuff from cd and the machine hangs on every installer, either on the install command or part way through, it just freezes. It always seems very near the beginning. I've replace every bit of hardware apart from the cpu and mobo with known good parts influding several cd drives and even a different hdd. Deleted partitions, re-installed multiple times etc. I can browse files on the cd no problem. Any pointers would be most welcome! Would hardware be picky about specifics like that? I did install duke nukem 2 from floppy successfully so seems its just the cd.

Impossible to help if you dont provide more info, your hardware, software used, drivers, config/autoexec etc

Yes what about copying a large file from CD to the HDD, does it freeze or have an issue ? Could be the controller or BIOS does not like cdroms.... just a thought

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
