i'm having some trouble with my ValuePoint 433DX/Si.. i've been at it for a couple days now and i think i might be going insane 🤣

i have the original mouse that came with it (model # 96F9275) when i bought it along with an model M i purchased separately from ebay. when i boot the machine with both the mouse and KB plugged in, the POST screen freezes with a continuous beep until i remove either the mouse or the keyboard. the mouse will show up as installed in the BIOS if i have it plugged in without the keyboard, but when i have both plugged in at the same time (once i'm able to boot past the POST screen) the mouse does not show it is installed within the BIOS and it will not work in either DOS or Win3.1. i've tried using another PS/2 mouse i had laying around but it also will not recognize

i'm honestly stumped 😒 i've tried taking apart and cleaning the kb+m and blowing out the PS/2 ports on the back of the machine with a little bit of compressed air and nothing has helped so far. i'm still able to use MS-DOS fully with the keyboard, i just can't use the mouse at the same time because the machine either doesn't boot past POST or doesn't see the mouse is installed at all

If I were taking a wild stab in the dark, I'd say that something is drinking more current than it should be, or something isn't supplying as much.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.
