I bought 3 aluminum briefcases from Harbor Freight on clearance. I had in mind to build a computer inside 1. I have an older off brand ~19" lcd monitor that might fit, after taking the guts out. But it just occurred to me to ask if there are any laptop panels that lend themselves well to pairing with those Chinese converters, to be used as a general purpose monitor. And that are cheap and easy to acquire. Size doesn't matter, preferably 15" or larger though.

Just stumbled upon this thread, and I wanted to chime in. I think it's a pretty cool idea to build a computer inside an aluminum briefcase. As for your question, I think using a laptop panel as a monitor could work well.

I see no reason to tote around a 32 bit amd motherboard. The main reason for wanting to build such a beast. It's a nifry idea, they were doimg this with cpu cards in the 286 era (w/o a built in monitor as I recall). Byte magazine. I love miniaturized h\w that lends itself to builds like these. Hell the amd mobo was only a uAtx. It'll stay in it's dented up rosewill case for now.
