This is a dumb video card due to lack of CRT controller and it is driven by the firmware till compatible program designed for this or via a driver to drive it properly at high resolution.

Finally found and bought a vintage ATX case that does have floppy bay, which is exactly same means this will be second one to my first one. This is what I had back in the day in 2002 or so.

Had to pay lot anyway.

Once here, this adds to my first, which these two cases, will be intended for PIII and Pentium class SBC computer.

The Thinkpad 760 series outputs some POST code information through the parallel port, if you've got a reader for that.
Also there's a NIMH battery hiding inside the keyboard part under the palm-rest plastic, which usually damages traces in the area.

What I think is strange is that it shows absolutely NO sign of life. I think next I'll try to measure the power supply (have to find the pinout first since it has 4 pins).
Then I'll take a look at the other battery.

It probably blew the main fuse-resistor from overvoltage of PS. Easy fix , just try to change the fuse. should work. as sorin says : check main rail 15-16V , then 5V than 3.3v , if you have volts on evrything than it's a problem if it starts and give's black screen (I have IBM that gives green led/hdd/fan but nothing on screen)

Found a GUS from a local seller whose asking price didn't make my eyes bleed.

I had a GUS ACE back in the day. Seemed the best way to do it - GUS as a dedicated add-on card without any extra bits fighting another sound card for resources. Don't hear much about those particular cards anymore - guessing they must be rare. Miss mine. 😢

Anyway, I've got this thing to play with now. The slot bracket appears to be made of oddly cheap and bendy aluminum - is this original? If so I guess that's part of its charm, if not then 🤷‍♂️ it will work.

Texas Instruments PCI1410PGE-based PCMCIA to PCI adapter.

Despite 5V and 3.3V keys present this board is capable of 5V power only. 3.3V power circuit is unpopulated.

Congrats on the find. I just recently found the exact same revision myself (also with a price that was just outside of eye bleeding territory). I poked at the bracket on mine and I would say that is certainly somewhat bendy. But not much more than any other similar bracket that is only mounted by the standoffs on the gameport. In general, if they're screwed into the PCB or have a bend down one side I find they are usually much stronger.

I've been a sucker for punishmentof late, eager to jump on damaged, non-working boards that I lack in my collection, so I grabbed these:

ZIDA 5DHX-512 sold as not working. It had very detailed photos and as far as I can see nothing is wrong with it except a missing BIOS and a dead battery. Both fixable. Fingers crossed.. I have no HX boards in my hoard so I sprang for it, not a bad deal for 5 bucks.

Then this showed up:

The battery corrosion is scary, but I hope it is not as bad as it looks, and repairable. It also came with an ISA VGA, ISA Multi-IO, 30-pin RAM and an AM386DX-33, so even if the corrosion damage can't be fixed, it wasn't for nothing. I have other working 386DX boards but I thought saving this would be a nice challenge, so I paid 14 bucks for the lot. Again, not bad.

Fun projects regardless.

Just pulled the trigger for my first 3dfx card ever. Got A Voodoo Banshee from ENSONIQ

This rare-ish Triumph Adler system along with original monitor.

Got 2 video cards for my asus p2b p2 400 mhz (later it will be be turned into p3 900 mhz system) a elsa gladiac geforce 3 and a Gainward Geforce Ti 4200. Both cards were available at a good price and I could not resist.

I hope that's just dust on U29 IC .. but I suspect its not .. it looks weirdly squished on the far end, hopefully its as you said and the damage isnt terminal.

Overall the board looks filthy like its been hiding in a pig pen or Chicken coop,.

Noticed two Three of the ram slots are busted in a way that makes them painful to fix.

Maybe they simply like looking at them?

Collecting something has seldom anything to do with practical use.
And even if something could theoretically be used, like e.g. old graphics cards, a collection of those cards usually means that they just rot unused on the shelf (or in a box in the attic).

It is possible to run your own GSM network with software defined radios that can output on the right frequencies, so these could potentially be used with the right equipment and software.
Legality differs per state and country, of course, but for instance, I know in my country (the Netherlands), low power 1800MHz band GSM is fair game without a license or permit, and I think 900MHz may be as well (though not 100% sure, legalese isn't my strongest suit 😁 )

Similarly, there is the ability to run dial up networks at home, with the right equipment even up to 56K (V.90/92).
But yeah, it might also just be for collecting sake.

No need to run own GSM network.
The original GSM standard (2G) is still supported by modern cellular networks.
Currently, operators are about to disable 3G support, and safe bet they will also disable 4G when 5G dominates the market.
But I don't think there are any plans to disable 2G - there's plenty of specialized devices that only support 2G.
