I own one of the first gen boards from an EP6350 iirc <had a p2-350 when obtained> (there are 3 variants that I know of the 3 dimm, and one of with just 2 dimm):
440BX, PII, three-DIMM model, 166813-001 >>> my board (PCA 009635-101). Actually Running P3-500 SL35E with 8 chip per side 128MB DIMM stable (so far with minimal testing)

Mine Currently has BIOS 686T2 ROM, 99.07.02 (sp10855.exe).

According to this entry: https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/gigaby … -6vxe7-1.x#cpus the Gigabyte GA-6VXE7+ 1.x can support an Intel Pentium III 1000E (for example a SL5QV). This is not in the CPU list from the manufacturer (https://theretroweb.com/motherboard/manual/ga … e6951030250.pdf) which has a max of 866Mhz. I know these documents are not always correct/up-to-date but did anybody tested it? If so how do you set the frequency ratio as it only goes to 9.5.

However there's a good chance this will work anyways. Ratio jumpers are useless for Pentium 3 CPUs as they're all locked down. Only the engineering samples are unlocked afaik. So the motherboard clock ration is simply ignored.
What matters most here is how capable are the MOSFETs to power the CPU.

Mine isn't the prettiest, there is slight PCB chipping, some ISA slots and RAM slots are damaged, one of the latter I temporarily replaced with a 90 degree angle slot, and it still needs a run through the ultrasonic cleaner to get it spic and span, but it might take a while for me to get to doing this, so I figure just having a picture at all would be beneficial:

Great! The chipset is (partially) wrong on that entry, though, as it should be the Haydn II [Cache] chipset, rather than just the Haydn II, as it incorporates the SL82C465 cache controller, next to the standard Haydn II SL82C461 and SL82C362 chips.

Then we fix that too 😀

By the way, for this Digis 486EL it's stated on your website it works with 72pin-FPM. Actually the mainboard is designed to work with EDRAM memory, the special kind of DRAM+SRAM patented by Ramtron company:

I have an old 386SX/486SLC motherboard. It looks like clone of PCChips M396F v.2.7, but mine is marked as version 3.0. The chipset is SARC RC2016A5. I don't know if this ver 3.0 board AMI BIOS is with more options than uploaded from PCChips v.2.7 board - advanced BIOS menu is on last attached picture. And mine board's POST string is different: X0-0100-000000-00101111-060692-2016A-U (third attached picture). User manual is exactly the same as for PCChips M396F v.2.7 board.

P.S. So, enough bulls**t with this licenses. Since I own this motherboard for almost 30 years, it is unknown what company it was manufactured by, what rights it holds (unlikely) and it is long dead technology (386SX/486SLC system), I am attaching the dump of BIOS in the interest of retrocommunity.

As far as I remember from near 20 years back this board has identical models from Fordlian and Redfox, but I do not remember their relevant designations.

New BIOSes for Acer V66XA

I have exactly the same Acer V66XA motherboard taken from IBM Aptiva 2139 SE7 machine. I'm attaching here the latest BIOSes for IBM Aptiva 2138 (stupid typo) 2139 (supports only first gen. PII - Klamath), and from Fujitsu-Siemens Xpert 79xx series with same Acer V66XA mobo (supports PII Deschutes and Celeron Mendocino) which is the newest BIOS for this board existing (even newer than Acer's). I've tested these BIOSes on my board and there is no problems with them. Altrough I don't recomment to crossflash (IBM to F-S, IBM to Acer, Acer to F-S, etc...) as there's some internal protection in the BIOS image files, but I've managed to change them successfully using forced flash through combinations of Uniflash, Flashrom and official flash (Aflash) tool from IBM. As a bonus I'll attach German/English User's manual for F-S Xpert 79xx. The file for IBM Aptiva User's manual is too big to attach here even in zipped format).

Edit: I am very sorry for the stupid typo 2138/2139! The correct model really is IBM Aptiva 2139 SE7 with Acer V66XA motherboard.

As for Polaris iVB-A board, I'm pretty sure It has analogs from Fordlian and Redfox, cause back in those years I was trying to mod the latest available BIOS for this boards for use of PIII Tualatin and I downloaded BIOS image files from Fordlian's, Redfox's and Polaris's official sites (long time dead and buried) to compare them and they all worked on this very same Polaris iVB-A board. Unfortunately I only kept this two "oficiial" versions for this board and I can't remember the models for Redfox or Fordlian. It's nice to know now that there were also the same board from PCPartner.

I promise to provide some better picture for the top view of PCChips M396F v.3.0 mobo until tomorrow.

P.S. I can guarantee that my Acer V66XA board comes from IBM Aptiva 2139 SE7 - check it in the manual from link above 😉 I have no interest to mislead somebody with these old and hard to find hardware parts. And If you sill have some concerns I've wrote down all properties from original IBM BIOS including machnine's original serial number before the crossfalshing to F-S BIOS. I can provide this info if its needed. Also I can make a photo of my board's stamped IBM SKU part number.

Don't worry. I suspect it was a typing error (2138/2139)
