Hi, I have been trying to install Win98 SE on a Socket 7 config.
Drivers load from the boot disk (A:) without issue, then the CD-ROM drive does not seem to be detected. I am not sure if the correct driver is loaded.
The CD-ROM drive is a known good drive from which I am able to install Win95 OSR2 or read other disc.

Config is minimal
Motherboard: MSI MS-5158 (I flashed a patched Bios as per discussion in thread Re: Graphic card and SDRAM recommendation for MSI MS-5158 motherboard)
Processor: Pentium MMX 200 MHz
SDRAM: 64MB PC100
Graphics Card: ELSA Winner 3000-L - S3 ViRGE/VX PCI
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 SB0350
HDD: Seagate 80GB ATA100
CR-ROM Drive: BenQ 652A 52x

The HDD size is the reason why I need to install Win98 otherwise I would simply go with a Win95 install.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Especially with an 80GB drive, you really want to copy D:\WIN98 to C:\WIN98 and install from there, so that you won't be nagged to insert the CD every time you make a configuration change (especially with regard to networking).
