Hi there,

if you have an old retro-pc and would like to play brutal doom on windows95 you have to use this:
- zdoom LE (legacy Edition Link => https://doomwiki.org/wiki/ZDoom_LE
- brutaldoom (old version) Link=> https://www.moddb.com/mods/brutal-doom/addons … ll-old-versions

Machine tested:
- K6/2 450 128MB Win95b DX6 MGA Matrox Mystique 4MB D3D 16Bit 320x240
- BrutalDoom08 via "zdoom -file brutaldoom08.pk3"

Greetings
Doc

even v21 should work with that zdoom le. but, did you really get the mystique to display anything here in d3d? screenshots please, can't imagine it will even render most of the effects. 128 mb ram is also very little for this, it must be stuttering heavily.

okay, i was really going off v20/v21, which do a whole lot more and are much heavier than this old v08 that is apparently from 2011. still pretty neat to see it run even this old version.

Thx man! It's 320x400, on 320x200 it's a lot faster though.

With ZdoomLE I have found a way to play doom1/2/hexen/heretic accelerated on that machine.
Now I am searching for Duke3D/Swarrior...to bad the Win32 Ports of JonoF require Win98...
Because there is no opengl I have to find direct3D oder DirectDraw accelerted ports.
Wolf3D and Spear3D I am also searching for Win32/D3D Ports.
It seems that there exits a Win32 Port of Descent...

If someone is interested I can show 68K Amiga running on this machine on Amiga OS 3.9 with accelerated gfx (MGA instead of VESA)
and sound (SB128) on some AGA Amiga-Demos that do not require the custom chipset.

For Duke Nukem 3D eduke32-W95 https://github.com/vogonsorg/EDuke32/issues/1
For 95 possibly Wolf4SDL but I've never tested on 95
For Descent use DXX-Retro

Thx, but I have several issues...getting anything you mentioned working.

eDuke32 has the same issue that the JonoF port lack...direct-sound primary buffer not working > quit
Wolf3SDL seems to require a newer OS.
Descent requires LIBPHSFS.DLL wich is not included in DXX-Retro and does not come with the original game...what is it?

Thx

For eduke32 there is likely an issue with your soundcard drivers. Try upgrading or downgrading them, reducing sound acceleration or upgrading DirectX.
DXX-Retro you need to extract over DXX-Rebirth 0.58.1.
