Hi, I'm new to DosBox and just downloaded since I wanted to reinstall Duke 3D: Atomic Edition and learned that it's not supported by Windows 2000. I can't even fully install the program as it gets stuck at 99% or earlier. I also learned that DosBox would enable me to play it. I was wondering, would it be possible to initiate the Install application with DosBox and would I be able to play the game from the CD itself (if installation fails again) with DosBox? I really don't know what do to... 😦 Thanx.

Read the fine manual.

But for starters, you need to mount a hd drive (install to) and a cd drive (install from).

Create some folder like dosgames (no more than 8 characters long) using Windows Explorer.

Then, inside DOSBox:

mount c c:\dosgames
mount d <letter of your real cd drive>:\ -t cdrom
E.g. mount d f:\ -t cdrom
d:
install (or whatever)

Thanx a lot. I seemed to have gotten the Install file to work on DOSBox. Unfortunately, it seems to be stuck at 4% now... 😒 but it went through, thanx.

DosBox runs Duke3D a bit slowly. You might be better off with this windows port - http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/index.php?p=jfduke3d

That's all well in good, but it wants the .grp file from the game. I am stuck with the acursed Plutonium Pak and can't get an update to work so I can get the updated .grp file.

It shows me the text about how if this fails that I will need to delete the install etc, and to press any key to begin.

Then it says "Bad Command of Filename" and says the patch failed. I remember the problem from years ago, but not the solution.
