I purchased the King's Quest Collection, which came with an older version of DosBox. Initially, it didn't work. I would click to start on of the games and DosBox would open, then close. I was able to fix it by updating DosBox, and doing something else. I can't remember the latter step, and I need to get it working again. (I wiped my computer a while back.) Any help on how to get this program working? (I still have the old DosBox backed up in another folder.)

Running WinXP, meeting all requirements for the collection easily. I think there's just some registry setting I changed when I did this last, but I can't find any information on it now!

Well, for starters, you should tell us what have you tried so far.

I thought that was clear already. I updated to the latest DosBox. That alone didn't fix it.

None of those patches seem to apply to my issue. I've done this without patches before, I just can't remember how and can't find where I found it before.

The one for the King's Quest collection IS for the King's Quest collection. It sets up the games to use the latest DOSBox, restores the missing install files, applies all relevant patches and upgrades KQ7 from v1.4 to v2 with a DOS interpreter so it, too can be played in DOSBox to avoid the firecracker speed bug. This also means that all of the games in the collection can be on 64 bit Windows or even non MS OSs if installed and patched on a windows machine, first.

Okay, can somebody link me to it? I can't seem to find it. (Hence why the patches I did see didn't seem to be what I was looking for.)
