I wanted to point out that this STB Voodoo 2 seems covered by a "lifetime warranty".

Since STB was bought by 3dfx which in turn was bought by nVidia, I guess you would need to contact them for a replacement Voodoo2. They might have kept a stock just in case.

I'm certain that the response would be along the lines of, "send us your proof of purchase or order receipt."

Although I would be incredibly impressed if a replacement were to be obtained in this way. Please keep us updated no matter the response, for posterity.

Someone here probably has an old receipt from something 30 years old. I'd love to see how a company would handle that. In the age of social media, they might even compensate them some other way for the publicity. For example, "we don't have any replacement Voodoos any more, so how about a new GPU instead?".

the model says br549 which i thought was a joke since that was phone number from the tv show heehaw and apparently also a band.

This is what it exactly is. Life time warranty is honored as long as the product is manufactured and available. When it is phased out and becomes EoL (End of Life), this warranty also ceases to exist. With electronics this is usually only few years at tops. Some memory and storage products may have considerably longer warranty periods as they may be in production really long time.

I actually contacted Corsair who offered lifetime warranty on their DDR memory. I got a reply that they could not give a 1:1 replacement. So they offered me a new stick of my choosing of DDR3 or DDR4.

In 1994 Intel offered a lifetime replacement for Pentium CPUs affected by the FDIV bug. The original websites are long gone of course.. Back then the german computer magazin c't stashed several of them away to test that in the future and so far they were successful in 2003 and 2008 (last section, german, use your preferred translation service) 😁

Nice! I also think that those old 8-bit SBs and clones are extremely cool little cards with their volume wheels and vintage look. I think the price you paid is fine, it is very difficult to find anything with OPL much under 30 euros, or at least 25 these days.

I’ve been itching to get MediaVision Thunderboard at some point. I had that card back in the day, bought it for my 386SX20 around 1991, I think. I used that card happily till I got Pentium 90 in 1995. Incidentally I still have the SB16 CT2290 from that Pentium and it bravely continues delivering music and effects in one of my 486s today.

The thing is, those Thunderboards seem to be unfortunately pricey these days, if you even happen to bump into one.

I was joking and i'm sure that nvidia does not have stock of brand new Voodoo2. But from my personal experience working in the datacenter industry, supply of EOL parts is a big headache.

Last year i suspected one of my corsair ram kit to be faulty.
Corsair XMS TwinX DDR400 CL2. I own this kit for about 20 years.
They theoretically have a lifetime warranty and there is a process to ask for a replacement.
I finally abandoned the process because it was my mainboard chipset who was responsible for the issue.
I'm still curious about what could have been the outcome. Same brand new 2004 DDR ? Or just a rebate on a brand new kit...

Yep that was my first writer too! Over 200 USD at the time, but adjusted for inflation, wow even more than that.

But they had no doors in stock that were the correct color, so to everyone's surprise a delivery truck with a brand new refrigerator showed up at the client's home! He called us, and we were able to send a couple of guys from the installation crew to do the swap.

The only problem is i cant find anything about it. VEN_110A&DEV_0014 (110A is Siemens)

Maybe you have an idea where to look for drivers and/or more information...
