im testing out a windows xp version of the game but it run like crack

The XP compatible versions I've seen work fine, but you need to right click on the executable and activate the Windows 95 compatibility mode.

I don't think the DOS version from Abandonia is deffective, though. They're one of the best abandonware sites out there.

I've started playing this game and without even tinkering with the DOSBOX settings I just set the speed options in-game to the slowest setting. Things still move fast but at least I can tell what is going on.

That aside, the game is HARD! I practically automatically lose if the aliens have psychic powers.

If the aliens start playing mental tricks with your men, a good tactic is to disarm the men still on the ship.

At least this should diminish your casualties.
