So what does it mean?

It means THIS! *stomps general_vagueness testicles*

Actually, TGOD is short of The Good Old Days, which is a creative way of killing or hurting each other in forum or newsgroup. People playing TGOD usually, inadvertently made a short, unstructured, but yet hilarious interactive story. You can find an example of TGOD here; there was three player in the example: HIT-MAN (red), Elim (yellow), and Boyd (white).

There is also more structured version of TGOD called STGOD (Structured The Good Old Days). Usually it involves more serious storyline and less "outright killing". Here is an example of STGOD.

So.... anyone care to play?

Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....

OK, I want to be sure I've got this straight:

  1. all of the participants participate and set the story
  2. posts must take all previous posts as true (from the poster's point of veiw) and
  3. it continues until no one wants to play any more.

at least for standard TGOD and STGOD is usually third-person and as you said, more serious and slightly less bloody, and both are, like you would think, done by nerds, and so often have to do with science fiction.

Is that right?

I thnk I would like to do that some time.

Also, I like that you use (actually, is that your name?) and (actually, is that your picture?) on forums; I am also general_vagueness on Yahoo, G4, and some place I forgot.

and what's Malchik Straight?

Correct. However, TGOD is more spontaneous and there's effectively no story; once I played a TGOD that started as a simple barfight and ended with the destruction of the multiverses. Of course, many said that I shouldn't have brought the Infinity Gauntlet on the first place....

STGOD, on the other hand, is way more elaborate. That's why the players need an OOC thread.

Yup. That's why in an STGOD, posts like "Darth Kreshna's Death Star has completely obliterated the entire general_vagueness' territory", because it runs the game.

Sportmanship is also important. For example, my Star Destroyer fires at your Galaxy-Class Cruiser, and it's already agreed that a Star Destroyer is more powerful than a Galaxy-Class Cruiser, then you should admit the inflicted damage accordingly in your reply.

Mind you that strength comparison doesn't always need to be explicitly agreed. For example, if you attack me with dragons and beholders while I only have human infantry, then the result is already obvious.

See, it's like LARP, but with make-believe.

Yup. That's why STGOD, despite being a story (interactive story), rarely reaches conclusion.

Correct! 😀

We need more players though. When playing STGOD, the more, the merrier!

Yup. It's indeed my picture and my name, athough it is not my official name because Indonesians don't use surname in their official documents (passport, driving license, etc).

It is a straight version of the guy mentioned in this song! 😁

Bwuahaha! You _really_ want us to believe that someone who refers to or even knows the text of a song by a cheap russian pop-duo, which is produced by one of the most famous homosexual icons in the world (Trevor Horn, producer of Franky Goes To Hollywood), and which tried to generate media interest by acting as a lesbian couple, is actually "straight"? I'd say it's time to come out of the closet, man. There's nothing to be afraid of. (;

Well, hey, he called himself what he is, I'll believe him (although I'm posting this before hearing the song).

OK, I've read the lyrics, and remembered a little bit about t. A. t. u. or however you capitalize it (I only know this stuff from "I Love the 80's", born in 1988) and I see better where you're coming from, but yeah, I believe him.
No surnames, huh? Does that mean first and middle, or is the surname first like in mainland Asia? I know about practically every place on Earth except most of South America, Africa, and the former Soviet Union, but Indonesia is like a black hole to me; I mostly just have heard that they call their language bahasa Indonesia and they have a lot of Muslims.

Hey, hey, just because I have a boyish, irresistibly handsome face doesn't mean that I'm gay! 😎

Er, no. Indonesians don't put surname first, simply because there's no surname at all.

Here's an illustration:
Dad: Hendro Munaf
Son: Mulyadi Erawan

Neither "Munaf" nor "Erawan" are surnames. Sometimes the son add the name "Munaf" to his own name (Mulyadi Erawan Munaf), but "Munaf" is not surname either, because the grandad can have very much different name, like Ahmad Hatta.
