Hello so in the past I had issues using my voodoo 1 on my pentium iii dell computer. I been wanting to use it for dos and windows 98 gaming with the voodoo 1 for older games and a fx 5200 for the more demanding newer stuff. Last time I had tried to do this the voodoo 1 I had (diamond version) was giving graphics glitches or failing to run games in general. I had read at the time about changing the cpu to a different one but it's been awhile so I don't remember what for but I'm pretty sure it didn't help at the time when I swapped them. Something to do with pci speed or something I seem to recall. The voodoo 1 works fine a a pentiem mmx pc I have. Sorry if I'm a little vague on the computer specs it's actually in storage right and I wanted to get something options on it before I pull it out of there if you guys think its not possible regardless of what I do I won't bother pulling it out but if there is a chance let me know.

Th problem is the CPU speed. There is no specific absolute number, but in general problems start around 500MHz. It might be a bit lower or higher, depending on whether it's a 66 or 100MHz FSB and the specifics of the PC. So you'll need a slow PIII if you really want a Voodoo1 in it.

if I put in a 400mhz Celeron with a 66mhz fsb would that fix the issue (SL3A2)

Pulled the computer out of storage and ordered the celeron on ebay. When I was looking at things I had in storage I found a 667mhz celeron with 66mhz fsb so going to try that. Currently looking for the Heatsink Retention Clip since I stored the computer without the cpu or heatsink installed. Hope I didn't throw it away by mistake.

Voodoo1 on a faster system:
- do not go over 366 mhz
- on faster machines even the control panel does not work or is not shown
- glide still works on faster machines
- D3D has texture glitches over 366 mhz
- minigl has also issues on faster machines
- voodoo1 should be cooled with a heatsink on faster P2 systems and up.

Voodoo1 in general:
- use/buy this breakout cable it's still produced (CABLE 9)

This is only true for the Windows Glide libraries, the DOS ones for the Voodoo Graphics card still exhibits problems in faster computers. And there are DOS executables older version of the Glide API integrated with speed-sensitivity issues as well.

FSB speed seems to be important, I was running one on glide for dos on a celeron 600 (66mhz fsb).

My K6/3+ did not care about 66/100 FSB on Voodoo1, but not more than 366 mhz!
