Running Windows 2000 Professional with all updates. NTFS file system.

I'm new to VDMSound and just installed 2.0.4 and Update 1 and LaunchPad 1.0.0.7. I'm trying to install Mario's Early Years CD-ROM Collection (Fun with Letters, Preschool Fun and Fun with Numbers) for my children. I created a VDMS shortcut for the install.exe on the CD-ROM. I checked the EMS checkbox in the properties dialog and selected the MSCDEX support, and that got me past the first few problems.

But I can't figure out how to get past my next problem. The installation program tries to access my hard drive to create the C:\Mario directory, and reports "This is not a valid Hard Disk Drive. Please choose another Hard Disk and path."

😕

It's a problem with the program installer, nothing to do with VDMSound.

It was made back in the days where there was no such thing as a 10Gig hard drive. The installer is checking for the size and space available on the drive and what it's getting back is too large a number for it to comprehend, so it's freaking out.

You will either have to temporarily resize/create a partition small enough to allow for installation, or install it on another system with a small enough drive, them manually copy those files back to your PC.

If you've got a ZIP drive or a CD-R/CD-RW drive with DirectCD just use one of those. Sucks, I know, but, well, that's how these old games go sometimes. 😒

Yes, it’s my fault.
