Was hoping to be closer to the top score for 3DM2001, but the Nature score lets it down and is the highest weighted result for 3DM2001. Guess I need a faster GPU, shame my AGP X1950XT is seemingly dead 🙁

Does well on the other tests though!

Nice score paradigital. Somewhere I have a D 940 or D 950 but only found the retail boxes, will keep digging cause one of them has to be here... somewhere in this mess.

Found the CPUs yet? Do either of the retail boxes list the actual vcore? I’m struggling to vcore mod the 945 as the mod changes based on the default vcore, which I have no idea what it is as vcore on the LGA P4 is variable within a window. Most mod guides reference looking at the retail box, which I don’t have 🙁

Tried 3 different mods so far, no joy.

Also tried my Cedar Mill 651. Doesn’t clock as well as the 945 on default voltage so not going to bother with it.

Any experience with nVidia inspector? Works fine on my daily driver, but won't start on my Pentium 4 630/GTX 285 XP system, and Rivatuner thinks my driver is too new. What else to overclock the GPU?

If it's dual it's kind of cool ... 😎

MSI afterburner should work. Seemed to for my GTX 480 on XP with my P4 775 rig.

I figured it would - I'm just not a big fan, thinking the user interface is a little less logical for me 🤣

It is overclocked ... It counts! 🤣

P4 Prescott 2M 3.0 lowered multiplier to 14 to get 220 FSB => 3.079 😉

Getting ready for Afterburner for the GPU ...

BTW, is it normal for Prescotts to be able to lower the multiplier?

Isn’t that a side-effect of speedstep? The multi has to be able to lower to downclock?

I believe you're right about that - I was just under the impression, that that was an automated process, which the user wasn't able to control.

Older driver - AFAIK the oldest for the GTX285. Little mere CPU clock.

Probably need to repaste the GPU, already at 700 MHz it starts crashing ... 🙁

And it seems others have better luck on those: https://www.overclock.net/threads/post-your-g … rclocks.453665/

I tried in vein to get a run in using my newly acquired FireGL V7200 (Radeon X1800XT equivalent), but it hangs during runs of both 2000 and 2001.

Doesn’t seem to get too hot, and I’ve even tried giving it a touch more core and memory voltage, but nada 🙁

Forgot I had an old mATX Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L board in the garage, checked it out just in case it was better for overclocking than my Asrock, vcore control is a good start, let's do this!

Still not 20k though! Probably on too new of a video driver, and could likely do with a reinstall of XP as this install has been moved between 3 motherboards now!

I’m pretty confident I can get this CPU to 266+ FSB, even if that involves a lower multiplier. It’ll POST at 266x17 with 1.425v core.

Reminds me that I have a Shuttle P4 mini ITX in the shed. No idea what cpu, though. May wanna look at that tomorrow.
However, neither the fresh XP install on the Gigabyte board will launch 3DMark 2000 🤔

Will the RAM run faster or would it be necessary to set the memory multiplier even lower? Because in that case I wouldn't expect much effect of av higher fsb?

Multi-core CPU and/or Hyperthreading? Use msconfig to set a max CPU of 1, then 3DMark2000 will launch (if Windows 98 compatibility mode is set).

The RAM would be faster yes. I’ve got PC2-8500 that at the moment is only doing 833MHz and is rated for 1066!

Oh, yeah, HT may be the culprit. It actually also fits the bill from my s478 system that it was when I started using HT capable CPUs, it stopped working with 2000. Will try that, and maybe compatibility mode (though I didn't use that when it actually worked)
