Anyone know how to change the reported DOS version that DosBox reports when using the VER command? I want to change it to version 6.22, not version 5.0. Tried to get help for VER command but doesn't appear very helpful. Tried the obvious - 'VER 6.22', but doesn't work.

Thanks

I can't find a description in the Readme how to set the reported DOS version.
Where to find it? 🤑

Thanks, but it's not in the README. That's the 1st place I looked.
There aren't any setting in the config file to change the DOS version that I could find.

ah, thanks for the tip. Works perfectly. Strange usage for the VER command though.

Mine neather.
Could it be that the Linux package of the 0.72 has a more up to date version then the Windows version?

Just to be shure, the readme is attached.

Erik.

I even checked the version on SourceForge (link in my signature). Nothing there either.

From the README:

"ver set (DOS version required)"

I scanned the whole file with the text processor application's search command, but it can't find anything like that.

It would be interesting to have such informations in the readme files of all packages... 😎

Is there a list of all 'set' possibilities in your readme file? 😳
Can you tell them, please? 🤑

I just looked at the linked SourceForge README and did not see it, either. The README that I have came with .72 for Windows. Here it is:

Different version of the README, modified version of the dosbox.conf file in the MacOSX distro 😳

We need to ..... adjust some of the people in the QA department!

I don't see where that entry would come from, my 0.72 release installation
doesn't have it, and the cvs backlog doesn't show it as well anywhere.

Besides that it should be added 😀

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I opened up a can of worms with consistant readme files. 😁
All for the greater good! DosBox is running really well. Haven't come across any more probs yet.

I think this is THE problem of Opensource cra..., um, software:
Someone alter files, and so not all distributions (including the original) include them... 😵
