I ordered one of the agp to 66 mhz pci adapters but accidentally ordered a non assembled one. Anyone know where to find the pci edge connector?

Salvage one from a dead board or buy them on ebay

Boards don’t usually have them.

A edge style pci slot has longer pins that are bent to meet the board and stability beackets

I'm pretty sure those pins are manually straightened by whoever was building the boards, I have never seen these slots being shown with straight pins option like that in any datasheets.

Okay, I need to see if I can recover a slot from my parts board in one piece. Might be able to make it work.

Oh it's incredibly tedious to salvage a pci slot from a board. Ask me how I know.

Save a bit of your sanity and buy some cheap ones from china.

I have one of Wongo's AGP-PCI adapters I purchased a few years ago. I suspect this is almost exclusively a Voodoo 4/5 product since these are effectively just PCI cards with an AGP card edge.

Here are some photos.

I bought this card a few years ago and have kept it in a bin ever since. I decided to try it out today and found that the system only beeps as it can't find a video adapter. I did find two pins that had broken free from their solder points of the AGP connector, but reattaching then didn't make a difference.

I tried with an without the molex connector attached. I tried an S3 Trio 3D/2X and a GeForce 5200 without success.

The original supplier is from Russia, so I don't think I'll be able to get a replacement any time soon.

Since I clearly don’t have enough projects and have severe ADHD, I clearly need another project. A pci slot to agp card adapter has now fallen on my list of things to possibly design one day.

I have been trying for some time to get one of those nice adapters shown earlier in the thread but still have been unable.

Anyone wanna help? 😀 any specific requests?

No specific timeline on this, happens when it happens, if it even happens at all 🤣.

you could try asking sdz

That’s who I asked. 😀 been trying to get one of them for a while now.

I guess I could ask if they are willing to share the files? 🤔 maybe they are already? Does SDZ have a github?

That wasn't clear to me from your previous message.
As far as I remember he once mentioned releasing the files but I haven't seen any update on that yet. I think it's been like a year ago.

PCI to ISA would be amazing, although it would only work on older south bridges that still had the logic for ISA DMA.

I notice a trend in newer cases with vertical GPU mounting brackets etc. If you decide to design a AGP to PCI adapter or better yet a AGP to Express adapter. It would be cool if it would be on a backplane that could be use as a verticle GPU in a newer case and just use the riser ribons to connect to the motherboard slot. The problem with all of these adapters i think is, they are impractical, outside of testing. When you have 2 to 3 adapters plugged in its just to long and it doesn't fit in a case with the side closed. plus you would have a side window to show off your engineering achievement.

I haven't released the files yet, during bring-up I made some changes to the board, but didn't change the project files at the time. I need to find the board first, check what I did and then update the files. Even if I upload the files now, it's kinda useless, as some of the ICs aren't in stock for more than a year.

I don't have a github, but at some point I'll upload a bunch of projects at www.sdz-mods.com

like how new cases do it. bad example.

ya, if it can mount away from the board, then, he can still use the other expansion slots and fit, or mod it into a case.

I couldn't find a pci to pci extension picture to post, yours is x16 to pci but its the same idea.

Time to necropost...

I finally got to finishing the new revision of the adapter, I have uploaded it here:

Editable schematic & board file, PDF schematic, BOM, and GERBER files.

I haven't yet ordered new PCBs and test (will order today) but it should be fine.

And sorry for the delay, stuff happened.
