No mention of your OS, your processor, memory, etc...

Those are almost always needed for troubleshooting, and the need for them is listed in the posting guidelines at the top of every forum.

Ok, first the bad news. Everything I've read everywhere says you can't run it on XP. Now the good news, you can. Now, more bad news, it ain't easy, and even it you get it running, performance is poor.

When I tried installing this, it bombed out immediately after installing the needed files. The sound setup program for this apparently does very strange things, causing it to lock up or just outright die on me every time.

I was able to install it on "Virtual PC 5" running Windows95 and copy the configuration file back over to my "real" PC. Unfortunately, I can't get it working with VDMSound at all (Lots of nasty Attempted to write to unimplemented mixer register (register = 0x3f, value = 0x00) errors). Visually, nothing but a blank screen.

It only seems run with XP's native SB emulation. Unfortunately, that emulation is very poor. Right now, however, it's all there is. Video seems to run OK (sluggish, some video artifacts), audio is horrible and I don't hear any FM music. You can try my configuration file out for a test run with your install. Change the .TXT extension to .INI and use it to replace your CONFIG.INI

Unless your CD-ROM drive is M:, you'll need to change it in the .INI file. At the bottom of this file, you'll see entries for CD_MAP. Change them to match whatever CD-ROM letter(s) you have.

Your best option? Set up a dual-boot with Win9x and run it there.
Even if we get the audio running fine there are still some video issues.
