Trying to run Jane's USAF but getting this on startup.
Seomtimes the game would start and get to the menu, but when would crash again.

Running WinME , Audigy 1, Geforce2 GTS.
Audi drivers are VXD.
Originally i was using WMD but then uninstalled and reinstalled VXD.
Also originally was running DX8, uninstalled and installed DX7.

Would this cause this error? Would a clean install be something i should try?

Other games work fine, although i do get random BSOD and crashes here and there sometimes.

Emu10kx refers to your Sound Blaster Audigy. Try turning sound acceleration down a notch and see what happens

That didnt help, i turned it all the way down.
Is there a way to disable Audio in Windows? So it as if i have no audio card?

Managed to disable it from control panel, didnt get a bsod but the game just freezes on startup now instead of crashing.

How did you uninstall dx8 exactly, and why? It includes all the files from dx7.

Maybe the vxd driver is the problem. Which one did you install?

I read on here that DX7 works better with VXD audio . I was getting weird crashes and other things DX related so i thought why not.
I used DX buster to uninstall from safe mode, then installed DX7a.

But yeah, not sure whats going on.

I will install Janes Israeli Air Force and try that, it uses the same engine as USAF so ill see if i get the same error.

Damn Janes IAF does the same thing.
I can get into the menus though, but once i try to start a game it crashes same error.

Well i reinstalled WinME and now the game works no problem.
The issue was probably that i had first installed wdm drivers, then reversed to vxd and on top of that installing different geforce drivers, different DirectX version, and who knows what else.
Something for sure was messed up.
