EDIT: I have found the solution on another thread here. I wish I used the search function 🤣. My problems are all resolved with an older nVidia driver I found on Philscomputer. Used the detonator driver 29.42. DON'T USE 71.84!! 😀
Recently I recapped a couple of older mobos.
First one an MSI K7T Pro and 2nd AOpen MK33.
Ever since installing any DirectX (7 thru 9) none of my DirectX games or 3dmark will load.
Unreal, after switching from software to DirectX throws an illegal operation. The game is the original CD, patched to 226f.
Also UT. The game will not load and give an error full of dx errors. Then will want to load safe mode. Safe load won't load either.
Edit: forget UT. I cannot get it to work on a P4 either. Maybe I need the official CDs or another installer..
3dmark 99 and 2000 do not load either. 99 will say I need at least DirectX 6 and 2000 spits me out when I choose demo or benchmark.
Half-Life works fine. It's using OpenGL. My guess is the Quakes will work fine too.
The specs of both machines are:
Athlon 1200
Legend 256MB PC133 1x
Leadtek GeForce 2 GTS 32MB driver 43.45 & 71.84
VIA686A Vinyl 700B audio (also tried a Live CT4830)
Corsair HX650W
Software installed for the boards is the 4.43 and I tried the newer version as well. Default settings.
I have used the same drivers and video card for Asus CUSL2 & CUSL2-C with no issues.
Please help!
