Hi, and thank you!
Yes, it turned out to be that I had used the wrong version of Dune 2. I guess I didn't really read that part of the instructions and assumed that my version (Us 1.00) would work as it has with Dune Legacy and Dune the Maker.
Now it works both in Windows and in Linux if I use Wine/Lutris!
Of course it would be nice to make it work natively in Linux, but the install instructions was not working out of the box for my Fedora installation. If you know some other forum/way I can contact you I can give more details, but I guess it wouldn't be so appreciated to talk non dos/windows details in this forum.
Btw, with this version I can't change to the custom campaigns (they do exist in the campaign directory), as I did before or by clicking "the arrows next to the "The Building of a Dynasty" subtitle in the main menu to switch between campaigns." as the website states. But that's no big deal as I haven't finished the standard campaign yet.
One more thing: Have you considered using Ctrl-mousescroll for zoom in/out instead of just mousescroll, and have only using the scroll wheel instead scroll up and down the screen/map? For me that would be much more intuitive, but that's just my two cents 😀
Thanks
good to hear, you got it to work!
the discussion board is open on github: https://github.com/gameflorist/dunedynasty/discussions
regarding campaigns: they should definitely work. the files need to be placed in the already existing subfolders. so e.g. for MrFlibble's Alternate Scenarios you have to place SCENARIO.PAK inside <your_dune_dynasty_folder>\campaign\mfas\ folder next to the already existing META.INI.
regarding controls: yeah, everyone has their own wishes here. though i've never heard about scrolling the map up/down via mousewheel. is there any modern RTS using this control scheme? the current scheme should be pretty much like C&C Remastered - so definitely a widely used control scheme, that could be considered current standard. but it's quite impossible to make everyone happy in this regard. and i have no plans to add a custom keybinding functionality.
