Nice build!
I am NOT trying to break the computer. I need to get some better CPU coolers too.
I just want a Really good AMD K6-III* Build configured for it’s optimal performance.
These AMD K6-III+ CPU’s clocked to 500mhz and 550mhz appear to perform very stable and reliable with Win98se.
Also there was not much of a performance boost going from 500mhz to 550mhz so I assume over-clocking to 600mhz would not be worth it.I think its the “Mystic” of having an AMD K6-III+ with a Voodoo-3-3000 that is intrigui
An official AMD K6-III+550 and Voodoo 5000 would be better but hard to find today.
No prob, as you like. It won’t break it. Many of us run ours at 600 is why I asked 😀
They are fun processors!
Hey Guys,
What do you think is the Best Audio card to pair with this Voodoo 3 3000 ?
I am running Win-98se and will be playing games designed for the Voodoo card ?
I am considering the Creative Audigy 2ZS sound card and Live drive.
Or Maybe the Original Creative X-FI with Live drive ?
My hard drives died so I had to order some NEW ones.
Should be working again soon.
Or should I use an SSD ?

M.2 sata in a 2.5” drive atapter on a promise tx4 sata 300 card is the fastest I’ve come up with
Disable page file or put it on a magnetic drive

Yeah, I think I will try a 2.5" SSD with an IDE to Sata adapter for now.

Those adapters are often iffy. May the sata gods be with you.
I just realized that the title of this thread is AMD K6-LLL+.

Hard drive died.
I have to get a new drive.
When it rains outside I have FREE time for Retro computer stuff inside.
Time to go through this computer and upgrade components.
1) New Compact Flash card
2) AWE 64 sound blaster
3) New thermal paste
4) Add more fans
5) Clean up the cable management
6) Re-install Win98se
Working on upgrades.
This computer with the Compact Flash , Win-98se and SP3 core updates is Very Stable and Reliable now.
Never crashes.
Back up and Running better than Ever.
Love the Sound of these Exotic cars.
Very nice! My favorite retro generation. 😀

I have an Upgrade.
5.25 floppy drive and Creative AWE64 sound card.
This is one of my best retro gaming computers.
It plays just about everything.
I can slow the CPU down to a 386 computer to play CPU sensitive games too.
MMX / 3dfx / 3D Now / EAX /

Life? Don't talk to me about life.
Guys, Using the Compact Flash card for a hard drive makes this computer Rock Solid Stable and Reliable.
It performs Amazingly good. I would say if you only do one upgrade to your retro IDE computer
the compact flash card should definitely be on the top of your list.
