One of the 486 PC's I got for free a couple of weeks ago, it's my first pre pentium system

Compaq Deskpro 466, 486(SX I think) @66mhz, 64mb RAM, 2 gig HD + cd-rom
Has built in Cirrus Logic 542x gfx which I'm very pleased with but I'm going to put a PCI gfx card in it's only PCI slot

The cards on the pic is a Soundblaster Pro 2 and underneath it is a Roland SCC-1 connected to the LINE IN on the SB Pro 2

2nd 486 system

Ambra 486, 486SX@33mhz, 16mb ram, 8 gig HD recognised as 500mb (lol), cd-rom
Has also built in Cirrus Logic 542x circuits, this system only has 3 isa slots
The computer reminds me a bit of an Amiga 3000/4000

On the pic there's a Soundblaster 16 CT1740 at the top and underneath it a Gravis Ultrasound Classic

Nice pictures!

I once had a similar Compaq as yours (slim-line with riser card). But I wonder why they used a riser card in your system, the case looks high enough for normal slots on the mainboard. Maybe they've run out of space on the board. 🤣

Btw, the CL542x onboard video should be on par with many PCI graphics cards working on a 486 chipset.

The other machine is also cool, I love to see the red of a GUS 😉

Yeah, there's almost too much space inside the Deskpro 466....gues they were afraid the expansion cards would overheat or something 😁
I now have stuffed in an Matrox Millenium II PCI gfx card in it's only PCI slot

Right now I can't live without some red inside these old PC's 😉
