Just bought this for lesss than half the original Best Buy sticker price, out of a storage unit. 😁 Took it home and tested it fully functional with all the accessories except just one of the games!
Pretty crazy the box and everything was in brand new shape! My first voodoo card!

Scratches and dents all over, all metal pulled, likely for recycling.

Good news is that there are no cut traces, ripped chip legs or even missing surface mount stuff. It might actually be alive and just needs a good cleaning, new heatsink and a mounting bracket.

Gave it a good cleaning and a matching heatsink. ITS ALIVE!

Now I just need VGA shielding (got some dead cards for donors) and a bracket, which in worst case scenario I can 3D print.

Learned there was a "Flat Panel" add-on for this card sold by Matrox:

thats a wide ranging selection! some good cards for vintage systems too, lotsof options. I have to agree on the TNT2, looks good and always a nostalgic card as saw me through lots of 3D things back in the day and seemed (at the time) limitless in its ability to render games at acceptable framerates (well, up to around year 2000...)

Never seen one. Seems very early for a DVI out.
The earliest card with DVI i have is a GeForce DDR but G400 came out earlier.

Yes that might be the reason why there's non of that add-ons around. No one had use for it at that time and later when TFTs / DVI became a thing the G400 was long obsolescent.

I have several of these for the G200 but have never been about to get them to sync to my flat panels. They take precedence over the VGA port, so I can't even get to the control panel to change what the refresh rate is to something that my LCDs would tolerate.

Has anyone managed to get the Matrox G200 flat panel add-on to work?

I remember PC Gamer's review of the G400 (I think it was in the September 1999 issue) had mentioned that the card came with a DVI output for "...if you are rich and have a fancy flat-panel display." I would have to dig into my archives to find it, but I could have sworn that the picture they showed had the DVI connection on the back of the card near the VGA output and didn't need an adapter.

I'm planning a cooler chain transplant.
The XFX 8800GTX in the top left corner does not work. The 8800GTX with the zalman works but will receive the XFX cooler. The zalman should be compatible with the Quadro Fx1000 and should (hopefully) allow me to mod it into a GeForce FX5800 Ultra (memory is rated for ultra freqs and i will add the small dissipators from the box next to it).

Below are 4 cards i received recently too
A Voodoo Rush (with the less common Macronix 2d chip). A 6MB Voodoo 1. A regular Voodoo 1. An S3 Virge.

Unfortunately the regular Voodoo 1 does not work and the Rush only works in 2d. There are missing SMDs that i replaced but nothing changed.

The 6MB Voodoo and the Virge works ok.

From my experience, the large QFP chips on these Voodoo cards tend to fail due to weakened solder joints on the legs. I would not recommend attempting to fix this without a microscope, since bridging these contacts is easy and spotting them is hard, even with a microscope.

You can remember the details and date of a nearly 25 year old review. Most days I don't even remember what I ate for breakfast. (-:

DVI on retro hardware is a nice thing to have. I'm pretty stoked about my Voodoo 5 5500 PCI. I was very disappointed by the G200 though. I have pretty low expectations for the G400 as well. I've always run into weird problems on my Matro cards on modern LCDs the would throw it into some unsynchronizable state, even as far as the G450, which has native DVI built-in.

I have a friend which have a microscope for that purpose. I will ask him to have a look.
Also not sure that my SMD soldering job is great.

If you do make the attempt, be very generous with your flux. Also, the oxidation will cause your iron to stick to the legs. Be gentle and don't pull if this happens or you might damage or possibly even tear one off.

Curious to know why you throw them away? They cost a fortune on eBay.

Em, to3cutter threw some old cases away then brought this Voodoo home. Not every recycler knows the value of a specific PCB.

If you were talking about those cases in particular: sure they cost a lot if in mint or near new condition, but if the are in poor condition with heavy corrosion then nothing can be done. Besides, only good AT cases cost a lot on eBay; very few vintage ATX cases have the same status.

Probably stripped screw holes. I've thrown away some cases for that reason as well.
