So I just got around cleaning the "9600 Pro" from my previous post, the one with fake Rubycons.
But it wasn't just those fake Rubycons that came as a surprise 😀

Mobility radeon 9700 🤨

R300 series is a mess. Some manufacturers produced very weird/out of specs things.

I'm always very suspicious when buying these cards.
I've seen :
- 9800 "pro" with 128 bit bus
- 9700 on 9800 pcbs
- 9800 on 9700 pcbs
- New in box 9600 pro with "windows vista" support advertised on the box (so 2007+ for a 2003 card) with a driver CD also containing nvidia drivers.

From my experience it's very difficult to tell what it is without looking a the die. So buying an r300 is a gamble.

Nice find. I would keep it just for the weirdness.

That's weird, all the fake Rubycons I've come across have been like "Rulycon" or "Rudycon" or other misspellings in same font.

That's pretty cool and definitely a keeper.

Of course I'm keeping it! IIRC the Mobility 9700 was made from the XT variant of the 9600, so chances are I might be able to pull off some XT speeds. Or "die" trying 🤣

EDIT: And just when I thought this card couldn't surprise me any more. Look at the way the AGP is keyed, and keep in mind this is marketed as a 9600 Pro.

Bought a Macintosh Classic M1420 from shopgoodwill.com for an okay price.

The system needs a recap, logic board deep cleaning, and a shell cleaning.

This is the system next to my MacBook Air M1 Late 2020.

all with CPUs? that's a nice selection, the AXIOM Tech IMB200 with its agp, isa and 775 is time-spanning!

Today I got this Guillemot maxi sound home studio pro 64 (does any other sound card have more words in its name?). A little bit dusty, scratched up and packed in just bubble wrap. It's an ISA sound card with Dream9407 wavetable and ESS 1869 Audiodrive for Soundblaster and OPL/FM-Compability. It's got an optional RAM slot that now has a 4mb stick (max 16) I believe it also has a wavetable header and an optional daughterboard that im missing. I just tried it in windows and it thankfully works just fine. I know that it has been problematic to get it working in DOS but I saw that Unisound now supports it so hopefully it will go smooth. Honestly on paper it seems like one of the best sound cards you can get for Dos gaming, but I will have to try it out some more.

Will replace the mechanical HDD with a CF solution (as usual).

It was a pain to set up under DOS, but the combination of UNISOUND and the official drivers does work.

I have this card too and never had the perseverance to set it up in dos.

There is also a "lite" version of this card (shorter, probably less RAM and without the optional additional io bracket connector) and a similar card in PCI (Maxi studio ISIS).
I remember this brand being strongly advertised for home studio users in the late 90's. It was probably quite popular in France and Canada.

Yup, all came with CPUs. Although the various P4 / Core2 CPUs are less exciting than the Pentium III 1.4.

And I'm pretty excited about the IMB200. Once I test it and if everything is good, I may use it in my Pentium 4 build.

Well I see 3 or 4 hundred in PS/2 crap and 100 in processors, so I guess you just wanted to make 10x your money 🤣

Tested out the Axiom Tech IMB200 motherboard.

I always get nervous when firing up a new acquisition for the first time. Fortunately this one seems to be working perfectly.
