I only can find NT versions, and don't know any safe site to download them. Can't found them also here in the forum, and neither in microsoft website.

Also this: http://www.oldversion.com/windows/directx/
There used to be a great website that had a spreadsheet type layout with all the DX versions and which OS they supported but appears dead now.....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun

Do you have disc based games? They (almost?) always came with the directx version they need.

Magazine bundle discs like those came with PC World and PC Gamer also always included the most recent graphics card drivers and DirectX versions.

I usually get them from this 3dfx driver page: http://falconfly.3dfx.pl/directx.htm

Wow thanks !! That is the link I was trying from my bookmark but it gave me an error, updated it 😁

added: if you want just the ENGLISH only DX8.1 for Win98/ME it can be downloaded from MS thru wayback:
webpage: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.as … &displaylang=en
file: http://web.archive.org/web/20040411032132/htt … -US/DX81eng.exe

the 8/2004 "redist" package of DX9.0c can be downloaded also, and lists Win98 and 98SE on the webpage:
web: http://web.archive.org/web/20040830012118/htt … &displaylang=en
the Download link works, if not here: http://web.archive.org/web/20040411032132/htt … -US/DX81eng.exe
