For the past year I have had a project to set up some configurations respecting the years of the components and install popular games from that period.

I have a 2004 PC, running Windows XP, and I want to install my DVD purchased when Half-Life2 was released. Of course, I haven't been able to use Steam for several years and I don't want to use the internet on this machine anyway.

It's frustrating not being able to use an original game!

What to do ? I searched on the internet but a lot of talk comes when it's a game that has already been installed for a long time. my case is a fresh reinstallation.

Thanks for your help !

There are unofficial non-Steam (basically cracked) downloads of the old DVD version in image format, specifically the build 2153 version from the Collector’s Edition disc and also another slightly newer 2004 version can be acquired this way. Won’t link to it for obvious reasons, but that’s the closest you can get to an authentic 2004-like HL2 experience (to my knowledge).
