By the way, I assume that CU is for Coppermine, SL for Solano Chipset ...

Pretty much, like how CUBX is Coppermine+BX.

Another thing I got this weekend was this interesting Zeos 386 laptop, which came to life after some cleaning up and coaxing. Stunned at how well this thing works!

What the ... I just saw an ad for this today in this magazine from 1993: https://books.google.com/books?id=x2Fa5SDi0G8 … epage&q&f=false
(researching one of my laptops so I can make a thread for it in the System Specs forum)
That's a cool trick it does with the screen, how does it do that?

Bought this from a client I occasionally keep in touch with regarding retro stuff. Is it me, or this one actually has a functional ISA header?

The thermal paste came from a retailer, after a week of sitting in the warehouse of the courier though 🤣

CUBX-E owner reporting. :F

Asus naming scheme can be a mess. P2B with D or S suffix makes sense, but after the P3B it gets trickier.

I'm the only one whose OCD decoded it fully 🤣, here's explanations:

- P3B - slot 1, 440BX
- P3C - slot 1, i820 (Camino)
- P3V4X (I think) - slot 1, VIA 694 I think (not sure if P3V4X exists?)
- CUV4X - s370, VIA 694X. Applies for dual CPU version as well since 694D is literally 694X with a different name
- CUBX - s370, BX (oh, how much I'd love one of these.)
- CUSI - s370, SiS 630(?)
- same applies for TU variations except no TUBX exists, and all TU suffix boards have Tually support
462
- A7 - all skt462 mobos
- M266 - ALi?
- N266 - nForce
- N8X - nForce 2 all variations
- V means VIA chipset
- V8X is KT400
- V600-X is KT600
- 880VT - KT880
- not sure if the A7 series had a SiS variant although I recall a 748 existing
P4
- T - i850 RDRAM
- B is all 845 chipsets usually
- P4PE is 845 PE
- same rule, V is VIA, S is SiS, except a new one is there - R is ATI Radeon Xpress chipsets. G series is either Granite Bay (E7250 I think) or Grantsdale for the 915/PCI-E variants (P4GD1)
- P5 is 775 territory

CUBX - s370, BX (oh, how much I'd love one of these.)

Good motherboard but the added CMD IDE controller SUCKS. I would highly recommend getting a CUBX-E if at all possible it has a much better Promise controller.

An Abit BX133-raid V1.01. Pin AK4/VSS was burnt on the socket.
An adjacent pin AJ3/VSS also has some scoring to it.
It's dead in the water. Caps are TEAPO. I had most in stock, but had to order 1500uF/6,3V/r3,5.
A preliminary test showed some CPU-voltage at 2V (measured at suspected CPU power coil - Mendocino testing CPU).
In a few days we'll see if it's just the caps or something else. Also reflashed latest bios.

And it's alive! thank you mouser and Fedex 😀

There's something strange about my new 6800 Ultra..... 🤔🔍

That is definitely a 6800 Ultra... but what's with the VGA port? Never seen one without dual DVI. Even the cut down Quadros that use that same PCB (with the dual power connectors) have dual DVI.

Explain! 😄

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Maybe some engineering model or prototype. Nula Nalu is missing and the date code on the fan is quite early. However a date doesn't say much on hardware.

Thanks Shponglefan

Ah, I actually found some pictures of one of these here:
https://videocardz.net/nvidia-geforce-6800-ultra-agp

One thing I noticed is that it says "Made in USA" on it, which seems fairly unusual. Of all of the pictures I have looked at online, only AGP4Life's card and the one on VideoCardz have the made in USA markings, and both also have VGA ports.

Based on the markings I'm assuming it's an Nvidia OEM design.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Does it work by any chance? I'm curious to see what GPUz has to say about it

Exactly!! That's what I thought when I bought it. I was thinking it would be cool to have a pure reference 6800 Ultra from NVIDIA, and I had never seen one with a VGA slot. 😀

I haven't gotten around to testing it yet, I'll post some pics when I have time. 😀 Looks to be in good phyiscal condition.

Whats is a Nula? Not familiar with this acronym.

I think they mean Nalu. That's the mermaid that adorned the 6800.
