Hi guys,

I'm looking for DOS & WfW 3.11 drivers for this network ISA card:

The attachment 20240701_165215.jpg is no longer available
The attachment 20240701_165208.jpg is no longer available

I scoured the netz for EtherStreamer but only found a fake driver download. Perhaps this chip is known to work with some generic drivers?

Thanks!

See this - http://ps-2.kev009.com/pccbbs/network/drvrlist.pdf
search for "73G9721"
download the files from http://ps-2.kev009.com/pccbbs/network/

Wow man, spot on! 😃 It was the etij01.exe and etij02.exe files. The first contains drivers for all OSs, and the second has a diagnostics tool called LANAID, which was extremely helpful to setup this PnP card.

I managed to get WfW working but only with the NDIS2 driver (initialized in DOS). The driver pack also has an NDIS3 (WfW-specific .386 driver). However it's unable to load, showing this error:

The NDIS2 driver on the other hand loads correctly in DOS:

and WfW then loads without errors. Do you recommend I spend the time figuring out the NDIS3 driver, or should I just settle with NDIS2?

Next step, be able to access files from Win10/Win11. I'll search for some guides as I never did this before. But if you happen to know some good steps for WfW<->W11 data access, that would be nice.

Cheers!

Just posting my findings on file sharing with modern OS.
With Win10/Win11, you need to install the (by default) missing SMB 1 protocol from Windows Optional Features. Once done, Win11 will be able to see and access shares made in WfW's File Manager. I tried it on two machines. But on one of them, Win11 wasn't able to write files into the WfW share. It was strange, as it was able to read and delete existing files, but copying in new files results in a dialog "Operation not supported".
On the other machine I had Win10, and it was able to fully access the share after SMB1 is enabled. Moreover, I shared a folder from Win10 and WfW File Manager was able to map it and fully access it too.. However, I disabled password-protected sharing in Win10 to make WfW happy.. not something I'd recommend. If there are ways to make only a specific folder be shared without a password, let me know. I tried giving Everyone full read/write but that still caused WfW to show the Enter Password dialog which can never succeed due to old authentication. Only when I go to Network Sharing Center and disable password protection would WfW become happy.

I know other solutions exist (FTP, Samba, etc), but I like to have directory shares between OSes like this.

Next challenge, have Android be able to access the WfW share. I use Cx File Explorer, which has decent network access capabilities, and I use it to access shares on modern OSes. It claims to support SMB1, but it just fails to connect to the WfW PC. Any attempts in this direction? Or anyone knows if I can have Android be the host of a share that WfW can access?

Thanks!

It may have something to do with 8.3 file names - WFW 3.11 supports short names only, later versions store both long and short names, latest versions may store long only.
Try something like this on both machines, as the Administrator:

fsutil 8dot3name query
fsutil 8dot3name query c:
