Greetings,

I just bought one of the new CF memory 386 book’s.. Love love love it so. but i do not kno how to replace the 2gb CF card with a 128 or 256 CF card.

I need to format the CF card for the “386” prior to moving it over to that machine and using it. The 386 only has 1 CF slot… there there something like RUFUS or someting that will build a disk for me so i can play with this thinga and put it to use…?

thanks for any and all help!

Depending on the BIOS that comes with the Pocket386, the maximum drive size is likely limited to 8.4gb. If you are lucky, 128gb may be possible. Operating system support is also going to be a limit on how large of a drive you can use.

Surely this topic seems very popular. I suggested a solution here to a previous similar question:

Unfortunately your solution may not work.
If the disk geometry is different enough, the master boot record may not be able to find IO.SYS.
According to DOS, a partition must start and end at a cylinder boundary. Modern partitioning tools may ignore this rule.
